The Real Diet Girls
In continuing my investigation of the heavily advertised, heavily deceptive, and heavily complained out Acai/Cleanse websites, I have found a bit more info. Thanks to a commenter here, and a commenter on this site, the source of at least two of the fake diet girls‘ photos have been established: iStockphoto.com. … Read entire article »

Acai-Cleanse Scams – Update
When I started writing my scam alerts, I started with a small list of sites – so I combined the “Kevin Hoeffers” of the world with the “Jenny Conrads” of the world into a single post. As time went by, my lists were getting larger and larger, to the point that I really needed to break them into separate posts. So I have taken the Acai/Cleanse scams out of the original post and placed them where they belong – in a dedicated post right here. I have also now started a list of the variations of the products being peddled by these sites, which is at the bottom of this post. … Read entire article »

Scam Alert Part 4 – Teeth Whitening
It’s hard to believe the swamp into which I have waded. I was just a blogger who happened to get tired of seeing all of those phony “Kevin Hoeffer” ads. Now I’ve discovered yet another set of sites and product scams, all remarkably similar to the previously listed scams on this site. This one is for teeth whitening products. I only have a couple so far but I’m sure the list will grow quickly, just as the others have. But since they are now advertising, I thought it best to get the latest scam alert out there. There are two versions of this scam. One that is hard to catch is the “fake reviews” type site, where they will review several products. Sometimes they only review their own, while other times … Read entire article »

Scam Alert Part 3 – Phony Wrinkle Blogs
Through my considerable efforts looking into the scams based around making money on Google, government grants, and the Acai weight loss products, I have found yet another group of websites that are advertising anti-aging products. I’m not saying that all anti-aging products are scams. Far from it. Many are great, but if you are wondering about a site and see it on this list, I highly recommend that you look elsewhere. How do I know these sites are scams? Keep reading. … Read entire article »

The Fake Diet Girls
This is another of those works in progress, which the scammers will no doubt continue to change. I thought it would be interesting, and a good visual, to take a look at the photos associated with the names for this ubiquitous diet scam. So without further adieu, I give you the Fake Diet Girls photo album: … Read entire article »

Cash Gifting Ripoff Alert
If you’re reading this, you’re probably doing research on a site to see if it is legitimate or not. The bottom line is this: if it is a “cash gifting” site, you will regret it. Cash gifting is a pyramid scheme, where the few at the top make a lot of money, funded by a large group of people at the bottom who lose a fortune. They like to say how their system is “legal” because givings gifts is legal. I will defer to the Federal Trade Commission article linked below about the legality of it. I have also included a large list of cash gifting sites at the bottom of this article. Cash gifting is an old scam. And because there are well-written explanations already out there, I’ll link to … Read entire article »

Prophecy on Obama’s Face
Is there a secret prophecy on Barack Obama’s face? Simple contrast enhancement to a photo of Obama clearly reveals the image of a mushroom cloud. I wonder if you lined up the freckles on his face if it would spell “IRAN IS NEXT.” … Read entire article »

The Bismarck Dinius Injustice
You may not have heard of this California news story. I’ll provide a couple of external links so I don’t have to re-hash too much. Read about it from an ABC affiliate and boatus.com. Also a very good article by Latitude 38. The gist of the story is this: Bismarck Dinius and some friends were out on a sailboat at night. A power boat, driven by Chief Deputy Sheriff Russell Perdock, slams into the sailboat, killing passenger Lynn Thornton. … Read entire article »
