Adieu 2009.. but not Acai Scams
OK, I said I was done with consumer advocacy, but I lied.
I frequent most of the major news sites. And despite my many months offline, as 2009 comes to a close, I see the same old tired ads and obvious rip-off affiliate sites out there.
Acai, teeth whitening, weight loss… Still there a year later, which means people are still buying into the fake blogs and bogus claims. I have to wonder who in the hell is still falling for this garbage?
Here are a couple ad I saw on FoxNews today.

News7TV.info – Won’t let you leave. Make $82/hour part time. Riiight…
LA5Daily.com – Generic teeth whitening affiliate ripoff site.
kevinsrippedlog.com – Fake blog (at least they admit it in the disclaimer) for muscle mass products.
healthtrends.timesdailyjournal.com – Fake blog (they admit it) for e-cigarettes.
crystalshealthylife.com – Another fake blog for e-cigarettes.
usachroniclestoday.com – A new twist in that the advertised url is “usachronicles.com” which is NOT their site. That alone is reason enough to avoid this one.
News4Health.org – Typical Acai/affiliate drivel that won’t even let you leave easily.
News6reports.com – Acai fake news site. Disclaimer admits people are fictitious. Seen advertising on weather.com via pulse360 on 1/12/2010. Products are Acai Berry Pure and Advanced Cleanse.
consumernewsreporter.com – Typical fake blog for ripoff teeth whitening products. (At least the disclaimer admits the blog is fake, but still…)
The only “secret” is how they can get the most money for their advertising dollar while pushing an unproven, overpriced, difficult to cancel product.
At some point these sites will run out of steam, but the people behind them are hard at work to find the next scam, and the next way to present it so you’ll open up your wallet to them.
