Teeth Whitening Scams, 2010 Update

Because my original teeth whitening scam list is nearly a year old, I decided it’s time to start a fresh list of dubious teeth whitening sites still advertising in 2010. The sad thing is that little has changed in a year. These ads are still everywhere. We still see the “fake blog” layout, though some are finally admitting in their microscopic disclaimer that the character is fictitious, and some are even listing their trial terms, which typically sign you up for their program within two weeks of your initial call. We still see the “two step” method, where two different products are being peddled, and we still see the same wording in the ads, such as “Mom’s trick to white teeth.”

And I’d still not touch any of these with a 10 foot pole.

I’ll update this list periodically, but some of the information may become outdated quite quickly, as these affiliates move are creating new sites rather often.

ConsumerNewsReporter.com – Using name “Amy” and spotted advertising on FoxNews via AdSonar, 1/13/2010.  Selling “Celebrity White Teeth” and “Vibrant Smile” products.
dailybeautyconsumers.com – Carbon copy of the consumernewsreporter.com site, advertising on FoxNews via AdSonar 1/22/2010, also using the name “Amy.” Peddling “Celebrity Brite” and “Everbrite” products.
mykillersmile.com – Using name “Alyssa Bell” and spotted advertising on Bing, 01/12/2010. Selling “Celebrity White Teeth” and “Vibrant Smile” products.
myteethtrick.com – Using name “Cathy Wilson” and spotting advertising on FoxNews, 01/12/2010 via AdBlade. Selling “Denta Brite” and “Smile Whites” products.
perfect-teeth.info – Advertising on Google 1/21/2010. Best disclaimer ever. “…does not warrant that the information on this website is complete, true, accurate or non-misleading.” WOW. Phony “review” site with ubiquitous phony whitening products such as “Celebrity White Teeth” and “Celebrity White Smile.”
teethwhitensecrets.com – Uses name “Cathy” and spotted advertising on FoxNews, 01/12/2010. Selling “Celebrity White Smile” and “Vibrant Smile” products.
Usachroniclestoday.com – Teeth Whitening site seen advertising on weather.com via pulse360 on 1/12/2010. Products are Celebrity White Teeth and Vibrant Smile.
ws1alert.com – Phony news story about a teacher and mom named Emily who found a way to whiten her teeth. Of course the disclaimer admits it’s all fake. Same tired products, Celebrity White and Smile Whites Pro. Advertising via AdSonar Jan 2010.
