Survey Telemarketer

This place will call you and tell you via an automated message that you’ve been selected to conduct a survey about the national debt. For your time in taking the survey, you’ll receive a travel-related prize, such as a cruise to the Bahamas. This isn’t the first number we’ve covered about this. In fact, this survey-for-cruise spam is absolutely rampant. In late 2011, they were spamming the country with a string of 503 area code numbers. Now we are seeing this 202 number. There’s a chance this is a different company than those 503 lines, but the result is the same – some bogus cruise for a survey.

The caller ID may look official, such as “DC, USA” which doesn’t make it any less spammy. Calling the number back will yield you the following message:

You were called to participate in a survey and now the survey time has expired. If you would not like to participate in any future surveys, press 2 now or others simply hang up. Thank you and have a great day.

Nothing in that message identifies them, which is bad business. But what telemarketers are concerned about doing good business anyway?

Block ‘em or ignore ‘em. But don’t fall for this spam tactic.
