Survey/Cruise Telemarketer
aka “Political Opinions of America”

We’ll add another phone number to the long list of “take a survey and get a free cruise” telemarketing phone numbers, the latest incarnation is a Washington-based phone number, and it’s most likely that this place and the call did not originate from Washington. They tell you that they want you to take a political survey – probably because people are so opinionated in politics. The survey is a ruse, as is the “prize” they offer, and a way for them to avoid the Do Not Call registry. See our longer article on the free cruise telemarketing scam.

Calling 360-529-6963 back will yield you the following message:

Hello this is Anne from Political Opinions of America.You were called to participate in a survey and now the survey time has expired. If you would not like to participate in any future surveys, press 1 now.

It doesn’t matter if you call 30 seconds after they do – the time is always expired. Why? This “expired” message is an attempt to fool you into thinking they won’t call back, and to avoid angry calls. Attempting their opt-out method doesn’t always work.

The Political Opinions of America website does exist, and has a “number removal” link. It’s unclear if this removal actually works, or if they’re just trying to get you to verify your phone number by “removing” it. The site was only created on January 24, 2012, which could lead one to believe it is merely a facade to front their phony cruise giveaway. Though their “contact” page only has a simple contact form, their privacy policy does provide an email address to contact them for removal.

Block ‘em or ignore ‘em. But don’t fall for this spam tactic.
