Model Spotlight & Interview: Tara Babcock

Tara Babcock is a model whose star is quickly rising on the internet. She has managed to set herself apart from the rest through hard work, a portfolio second to none, and social media virtuosity that rivals a pro marketing firm. We’re proud to offer this feature and interview with Tara Babcock here on Wafflesatnoon.

Tara Babcock is a professional model, entrepreneur, and gamer nerd. Even though her home-base is located in Seattle, WA, she frequently travels nationally, taking high-profile modeling jobs, and meeting industry professionals of the highest quality. Tara may be a blonde bombshell, but don’t let her appearance deceive you; she’s a gamer nerd and hard-working business woman at heart.

When she is not editing photos for her side business, dabbling in graphic design, or coding HTML websites Tara is playing PC and console games. Tara is such a fan of video games, she even has her own article section with Impulse Gamer and livestream on TwitchTV where she plays games with commentary while interacting with fans. Curious about what other qualities make Tara an anomaly? Follow her on her official website and social networking pages (see below) for updates, general sexiness, and info of all kinds!

Tara was gracious enough to answer a few questions for this article.

Waffles: You’re quite prominent on many social media sites. How much time do you spend on social networks on the average day?
Tara: I am never really away from the social networks because they are on my computer at home, and my iPhone when I am out! I spend a ton of time most days answering mails and responding to fans, I also have order and structure to how I promote what, when, and how. Social networking has become a very large portion of my marketing as well! That, and I spend hours on Skype talking to my close friends, hah!

Waffles: Some say Google Plus is a ghost town, but it seems that you’re one of the first models to really achieve success on Google Plus. What are your thoughts on the network?
Tara: I was told it would be the new Facebook, and since I have tons to hate about Facebook, I wanted a change, so I was one of the first to make a profile! I mean, you’d think Google, the super-power of the internet, would have the marketing to force users to switch! I like a lot of things about Google+, primarily the fact that they don’t delete my sexy non-nude images that have harmed no one like Facebook does. I can’t even count how many times I’ve had to make a new Facebook account. It’s counterproductive to my career to have to re-build my fan base when some Facebook official is on their period. Hah!

Waffles: Your bio states that you’re quite a gamer. What are some of your current and all-time favorites?
Tara: Currently I am playing Diablo III and StarCraft II on my PC the most. I even stream them live on TwitchTV with my webcam and some commentary. I also have my PS2 playing Persona 4, and my PS3 for Mass Effect 3. My all-time favorite console games are Mortal Kombat, God of War, Metal Gear Solid, and a few others! Gaming has pretty much defined me since I was very young. I love it!

Waffles: Girl gamers don’t always get respect from boys. Have you ever had one of those moments where you earned a guy’s respect by crushing him in a video game?
Tara: Yeah, usually it doesn’t even take that much. Gamer guys are used to girls trying to “fake it” to get attention, so it makes sense for them to be sceptical, especially when it’s someone like me who totally contradicts stereotypes. The gaming community just wants to be taken seriously and see that you have passion and skill, and that you have a genuine love for gaming.

Waffles: Do you have any advice for up-and-coming models who want to promote themselves online?
Tara: Stick to it, and be genuine and nice to your fans. Post your links and interesting things, but don’t spam. Create a diverse network, and don’t be afraid to contact companies! Some of the best gigs I got, I applied for, or asked for. Get a model networking profile and add people you think are interesting. If you work hard and have a little business sense, good things are inevitable!

Waffles: What are the most rewarding and most difficult aspects of being a model?
Tara: It’s difficult, at least for me, to find out who my real friends are, and to make meaningful relationships. Not because “everyone wants to get in your pants”, but because so many people just get psyched out by the modeling and the attention. A lot of people are intimidated, I guess! The best part is meeting awesome people, and having such an exciting career! Plus, you get to work for companies and people you used to look up to, and you get to be in the spotlight! So much fun!

Waffles: What’s next for Tara Babcock?
Tara: I am always working on new projects, be it modeling-related, or gaming-related. I always have so many ideas circling around in my head, and I am always given new offers. Right now, all I can think about are the upcoming weeks with my trip to LA for E3, MLG Spring Championships, and Street Fame Clothing! Stay tuned, join my official site, follow on Twitter, and come watch my livestream shows! You guys ROCK!
