Waka Network Walmart Survey Scam

Did you get a phone call claiming that you won a free Walmart gift card? As you probably guessed, it’s too good to be true, and very few people – if any – ever really get a gift card. Read on for more information on who this is.

Fake Survey Telemarketer
The group associated with this phone number is the Waka Network.

The call we received for this “offer” was from 415-121-6432, but  Waka first came to our attention a few months ago. They are known to call and to text, and it’s almost always the same “prize” they want to offer you – a Walmart gift card. The denomination may vary from $10 to $1000, and occasionally they’re known to offer other prizes such as iPads.

What do they want?
There are two possible answers to this question. They may tell you that they want to give you a $10 Wal-Mart card, and all they need is some contact info. They will push for you to “go to your computer” to sign on and complete the order. This is where they will attempt to get personal information that you absolutely should not give them. They may also want to up-sell you to a $100 Wal-Mart card in exchange for filling out a survey. Either of these cards will eventually require your credit card number and contact information for some phony “processing” charge such as $2.98. Do not give these people your credit card information! It’s also possible they want you to sign up for a “rewards” program, which will be impossible to complete. Either way, you will be on the losing end of this battle.

If you ask them how they got your number, they’ll probably tell you that you filled out a survey online, which you probably didn’t. If you ask them what survey it was, they either won’t know or will tell you some cryptic name that won’t sound familiar. You may actually be talking to a computer, and not a real person.

The Phone Numbers
Calling 4151216432 will yield you a busy signal. Anyone who will call you from a number that you can’t call back is conducting bad business and should be avoided.

Wakanetwork.com lists a phone number of 877-332-1490. I’ve never been able to contact a person at this number.

Wakanetworkinc.com lists a phone number of 877-237-9772. This one never seems to be answered at all.

They may also call from 657-306-7365 or 2068886592. Neither of these numbers seems to be available to call back either.

Read more about Waka in these two other articles from the past couple months:

Have you received a call like this, perhaps from a different number? What was the number and if you answered, what did they say to you?

A similar “service” out there is 100CardNow.com which is hooked in with OnlineRewardsClub.com. This is a similar, if not related, “rewards” program which requires your participation in 13 “sponsor offers.”

    7. burcheman says:

I also just got a call from the same number 578-121-8324 at 9:55pm on Wednesday, 08/22/12. It also appeared automated and I refused to give them any of my information. They claimed that I would be logging onto their “secure website”. I definitely suspected something was up then and asked about that fictitious Walmart survey I supposedly took. No one in my household had taken any surveys recently and when I questioned more about this false survey, they hung up on me! If it walks like a skunk, smells like a skunk, and looks like a skunk…It’s a SKUNK!! :-)

    8. Marqueta says:

Just got a call from 459-121-8344

    9. Phillip says:

I got that number too. I asked them some questions that they seemed unable to answer. Instead they would say something else unrelated to the question I asked. I first went to the website they told me to go to, then when I reached the section where I would enter my credit card number, I searched the site name on google and found this site. After I few more exchanges consisting of several repeats on the other end, I hung up. I’m more than sure it is not a real person. Some of you have suggested its a computer, and you are probably half right. Given they seem to be able to repeat any phrase in EXACTLY the same way, I think someone may be operating a machine or computer program where they choose the phrases that are said.

  2. brittany says:

  3. Cristal Galvez says:

Oh my gosh they just called me too saying that I was won a $100 walmart card because I finished a survey online o_O I asked what survey they didn’t respond . then they said to get the gift ima need a computer so they can guide me through the secure website. They told me to type wakanetwork on google and it would be the first to pop out before I clicked on it the line disconnected. So I was curious nd looked at the other reviews and saw this thank god! I could have been scammed :\

  4. ZeeBiscuit says:

Holy shit!! I would have been a victim if my card didn’t go through. The person I was speaking to sounded like a real person she said “Take your time. I get paid by the hour.” and then she laughed. But then she kept saying “Hold on just for one second” the same way every time!! I wish I had looked up this site sooner but at least nothing was taking except 20 minutes of my life I will never get back.

  5. Lauren M. Williams-Bollen says:

    1. Harold says:

I received a call from 487-121-9722 about 1/2 hour ago. Female saying I had completed an on-line survey and they needed to send me a Wal-Mart gift card. Need to sign onto wakanetwork.com and that it is a secure website, my personal information will be protected, etc.,etc. That is a dead give-away to a scam. Then you act dumb or hard-of-hearing, etc. until she gets frustrated and hangs up! Problem solved.

  10. Christina says:

Waka or whatever that business is seems like other businesses that are out there now. Most are really going to come close to you and get you to sign up or answer a survey or buy something. Check your receipts, people. I do.

  11. Melbert Gorospe says:

do you want to know who operates the number 2068886592.
the number is being operated here in km.4 La Trinidad Benguet not in Daytona beach Florida called the in interface techno Phil inc. the one you hear from your phone is not a real woman, it is an automated software that is being piloted by their call center agents.,. she even says that her name is Sylvia Davies. i was an agent there before.. i resigned because i don’t want to fool other people… please share this message thanks. so if you receive a call and the caller says that her name is Sylvia Davies or amber, hung up immediately.

    1. Ruby says:

I got a call from 578-121-8324 also. It is a crime and a shame that people are so evil and continue to do what they can do to robe people of their hard earnings. I gave her a run for her money all right and I took up as much time as I could with her to turn the table on her. She want be calling back I tell you that.

    2. Kay says:

I have been getting calls for days from 578-121-8324. Not recognizing number I haven’t been answering or wasn’t home, one. No message ever left. Just few minutes ago I did answer to see who it was. Same pushy female voice telling me ‘not required to purchase anything’. I had my laptop on at the moment and she told me to to to the wakanetwork.com. As I was googling, it came up also with ‘waka networks scams’ which was obviously major red flag.

I hurriedly ended the call. Then came to this site. THANK YOU for this info. Thought it sounded too good to be true.

  14. roy b says:

just rec’d the call from 487-121-9722 i got to the part where they wanted card info and i disconnected phone and web. their not getting card info that easy. try again you crooks!!!

  15. Barb says:

Attention Wal-Mart or any stores. Received a call from 459-121-8344, a woman saying I completed something online about a Wal-Mart free $100 card. I said no. She said this will only take 2 minutes. I said if this cost me 1 red cent, I will be really upset. So I go in…it is soooo funny. I know this because I was trying to make $ during surveys….99% are fake. I had over $200.00 on by doing a survey I had to give cr card number and they charged me the above amount. My PNC bank under the fraud dept checked everything and I was credited back that money. I was LUCKY. Since then, I learned my lesson. So anyway I go into this site and I said “oh, let me check out right below your website there is one that says Wakawebsite SCAM”. She says are you there yet. Wait, I am reading about your scam. She said some act in 1993 made this website secure. No way…she says I am only 2 people from making my goal. I said No and hung up. I deceided to call the number back…guess what…number does not work. REALLY …One last thing, I said ok send the survey and the $100 gift card to my house and I will complete it. I also said you lied there is a $2.98 processing fee. I don’t know you and I don’t give my card out to anyone I do not know. I trust QVC, HSN and some other companies. Pass this on to your friends.

  16. Red Baron says:

I got the call today on my cell phone, claiming I’d done a survey. I do a lot of surveys and have never attached my cell phone to any of them. When I pushed to get answers, the auto-voice system kept giving me a song and dance. It sounds like a real person on the other end clicking pre-recorded snipits. I refused to enter my card number for their “free” offer. I hung up on her/him/it.

  17. Sandra Burleson says:

Just got the waka call. When I told the operator that I was looking at the scam warning, she plowed ahead like I’d never said a word. I laughed at her and hung up. Tried to call back, not a working number.

  18. Rebecca says:

Waka or whatever that business is seems like other businesses that are out there now.

  19. Christine says:

I just received a call from 487-121-9722. This is the second time this number has called me. The first thing I said was I’m not interested, take me off your list. At which point the voice responded “no, no we’ll call back later” I then proceeded to say “excuse me! You will take me off your list.” The voice responded the same way. This is the second time this number has called me and each time, it’s been a convincing automated voice. Don’t fall for this scam!

  20. Tammy says:

459-121-8344 has been calling my house for the last three days (several times a day). I finally answered and spoke to a women stating I filled out some sort of survey for a $10.00 Wal Mart gift card. When I advised her I hadn’t, she insisted someone in my house did. She asked me to log on to my computer and she would walk me through the process to finalize the transaction. The website was wakanetwork.com! I asked exactly what personal information she needed and she stated none because I had already filled in all the information on the survey (that I didn’t take). I advised her this wouldn’t be happening and that our conversation is over. She was still talking when I hung up on her.

  25. Amy says:

They called me, told me I had won a $100 gift card from wallmart. She led me to my computer etc.. and then my hubby walked into the room asking what it was that I was doing. When I told her that, she kept talking on like she didn’t understand what it was that I was saying. The amount of the gift card then changed… Then it was a $100 gift card to the Waka network, and a $10 gift card to wallmart, and I needed to give them $2.99 one time fee for a trile 7 day subscription to their waka network, that I could cancel as soon as that night. Then she went on to tell me that there would be a $10.99/mo charge to use their “savings club” I asked her what it was that I could buy w/ the 100 bucks on their site, she couldn’t answer this. I finally hung up before giving her my info.

  26. Kim says:

    Hello,
I to just a call from 459-121-8344. I did some checking and it seams all these. Alls that people are getting are coming from Walmart. I would suggest that everyone start calling Walmarts home office and try speaking to either the president of Walmart or the CEO and ,et know what is going on. This is something that Walmart should not be getting away with. If calls are made to Walmarts corporate office, then maybe these calls will stop. I agree that they annoying and I have to keep chnang my cell phone number and it’s costly to keep doing this. Also try notifying your local police department and see what they can do to help.

  27. S says:

  31. Reging says:

578-121-8324 Name Can Not Be Found is what appeared on my caller ID this let me know that this call wasn’t legit. I played along to get information from them and I pretended to have logged on to the website. Instead I googled the name and this is how I was brought to this page. I am glade that I did even tho I felt something wasn’t right with the call. When she said all she wanted to do was to send me the walmart gift card I said to her whats stopping you send it out already… infact send it to my local walmart and I will pick it up from there. I told her that I was at the page and it showed a person standing there with its middle finger up and the other had his pants down to his anckles exsposing his rear end and I then said “f- you” and then disconnected the call. These people gets on my nerves.

  32. Kym says:

They tried to get me with the phone number 578-121-8324. Thank goodness I did a Google Search while this pushy woman wanted me to type my information. I so happy this site is available to show me it was a scam.

  36. Theresa says:

Someone from this company called me about a survey. I remember the survey, I did not complete it. The girl kept insisting I go on to their website, that she just needed information to complete the survey. I kept telling her to answer my question, what information do you need? She kept repeating herself and insisting that I had “won” something. I pulled up the website while she was talking, and, as I suspected, at the bottom of the “information required” was listed all credit cards. I told her where she could go.

  37. Rushi says:

I got a call from 459.121.8344, and at same time I open this scam infopage. They are just trying to make fool us.

Just received a call from 469-121-8344. Of course I google it before I got to the website and came across this blog.
Sounded like a automated voice, but she was answering my questions. Still think it was automated. I told her is a same and she tried to ensure me that their website is secure by norton and veriphone (dont remember exactly). I asked her to take me off the calling list and she still insisted that the website was secure and they do not sell any information to other organization (i never brought up her selling my information). She said that if they did sell information that they would lose their merchant account and the ability to process credit/debit cards. I asked her again to take me off the list and she just hung up. They have called me at least 10 times today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HATE SCAMS.

  45. Abbiey Kauer says:

I started getting numerous calls and I would answer and of course I figured it was a scam with the $100 in gas, $500 WalMart gift card, and $50 for their website. The recording asked if I had time to go to my computer and I said no so she says “well you can get online on your phone while I was talking on it…that isn’t possible unless you use WiFi on your phone which most people have 3G and 4G so there’s no need for WiFi. I said “You’re a scam artist.” and hung up. So every time I got a call from them, I called Sprint and had the number blocked. About 5 minutes ago, I got a call from a private number and of course my friends and I prank each other sometimes so I answered it and it was them again…WOW

  46. Shannon says:
