Waka Network Walmart Survey Scam

Did you get a phone call claiming that you won a free Walmart gift card? As you probably guessed, it’s too good to be true, and very few people – if any – ever really get a gift card. Read on for more information on who this is.

Fake Survey Telemarketer
The group associated with this phone number is the Waka Network.

The call we received for this “offer” was from 415-121-6432, but  Waka first came to our attention a few months ago. They are known to call and to text, and it’s almost always the same “prize” they want to offer you – a Walmart gift card. The denomination may vary from $10 to $1000, and occasionally they’re known to offer other prizes such as iPads.

What do they want?
There are two possible answers to this question. They may tell you that they want to give you a $10 Wal-Mart card, and all they need is some contact info. They will push for you to “go to your computer” to sign on and complete the order. This is where they will attempt to get personal information that you absolutely should not give them. They may also want to up-sell you to a $100 Wal-Mart card in exchange for filling out a survey. Either of these cards will eventually require your credit card number and contact information for some phony “processing” charge such as $2.98. Do not give these people your credit card information! It’s also possible they want you to sign up for a “rewards” program, which will be impossible to complete. Either way, you will be on the losing end of this battle.

If you ask them how they got your number, they’ll probably tell you that you filled out a survey online, which you probably didn’t. If you ask them what survey it was, they either won’t know or will tell you some cryptic name that won’t sound familiar. You may actually be talking to a computer, and not a real person.

The Phone Numbers
Calling 4151216432 will yield you a busy signal. Anyone who will call you from a number that you can’t call back is conducting bad business and should be avoided.

Wakanetwork.com lists a phone number of 877-332-1490. I’ve never been able to contact a person at this number.

Wakanetworkinc.com lists a phone number of 877-237-9772. This one never seems to be answered at all.

They may also call from 657-306-7365 or 2068886592. Neither of these numbers seems to be available to call back either.

Read more about Waka in these two other articles from the past couple months:

Have you received a call like this, perhaps from a different number? What was the number and if you answered, what did they say to you?

A similar “service” out there is 100CardNow.com which is hooked in with OnlineRewardsClub.com. This is a similar, if not related, “rewards” program which requires your participation in 13 “sponsor offers.”

I just received a call from 578-1218324, I did not answer and upon call back got the message that the number is not a valid number.

    1. Linda says:

Same number contacted me about 20 times over a 1 week period.
I finally answered and waited long enough for the automated telemarketer to pick up my voice.

Then I allowed it(her)to guide me through a series of steps on a website that eventually led to a page to fill in credit card info and commit to a “service fee.” Looks and feels scammy to me.

    2. mforcum says:

I also just had a phone call from 578-121-8324 same message not a vaild number.I did answer but when she asked me to go to her webpage I saw just below her site it said that that page was a scam!!I told her what it said she just kept saying no go to,I repeated it says it’s a scam, again she said no I told her no it says scam GOOD BYE! and I hung up!!

    3. BIC says:

got a call from 459-121-8344. definitely a computer. but i was curious so i followed her instructions and started keying in waka in the address bar. when i enter characters, my computer lists possible sites that I might be going to………… the first site listed was “wakanetwork” (where she wanted me to go), but just below that was “wakanetworkscam”. i hung up the phone w/o going to the site she wanted me to. JERKS!!

      1. Enuff Nonsense says:

I just got the same call, wakanetwork.com, telling me I filled out an online survery. NOT! Instead of typing the address in address bar, I googled waka network and saw the scam warnings. I told the person I got scam warnings, she tried to convince me I was at wrong site. Yeah, right. Told her its a scam I was not signing onto their page and hung up. I could still hear her trying to convince me it was not a scam as I was hanging up.

    4. ca says:

i too just received from same number.told her bite me

    5. Debra says:

I recieved a call from 1-459-121-8344 and when returning the call their is no way to contact them. I am thank-ful for people like you who warned me when I opened the first link it was the wrong one so I told the computer voice I was not interested 2.95 is a lot when you think of how many people will be falling for this scam!

  2. leslie says:

i did to i got the same number as you 5781218324 there calling like crazy but i know its a spam

  3. Steve says:

I received the same call from 578-121-8324 about 7 times over 3 days to my cell phone. Finally picked up and talked to the person at the other end, Silvia Davis, and the only thing she would tell me was the website: wakanetwork.com. I smelled a scam (and was aggravated by the unsolicited call to my cell phone)… so I politely hung up and filed a complaint here:
    http://www.fcc.gov/complaints

If you get this call, take the time and file a complaint.

  4. MyMy says:

I Just received a call from (459)121-8344 telling me that i completed a survey and won a $1,000 gift card for walmart or gas (my choice) plus a ipod from the Wakanetwork. the computerized attendant told me to to get to a computer so that she can walk me through the steps..of course this number is no longer in service when i try to call it back.

  5. Brittany Mason says:

Waka contacted me from a restricted number saying I had won $160 in gifts. Of course, being smarter than that I already knew it was B.S.

  6. never answer says:

do not call again get a real f—— job and stop bugging people who are working a real job dont need to put up with the s—…..

  7. Keilah says:

A similar thing happened to me as above. I kept missing calls from one of the same numbers as above so I finally answered (I figured it was important if the same person kept trying to call me). A lady(?) told me that I had filled out a survey and they wanted to thank me by giving me a $100 gas voucher and a $10 Wal-Mart gift card and a $50 gift card (of my choice?). I told her I didn’t remember filling out a survey and she robotically said “that’s great, are you able to get to a computer?” I stupidly said yes, hoping as we all do that I could get some free stuff…but secretly knowing it was too good to be true. The thing that made it almost believable was that I had recently purchased something from Wal-Mart online which seemed to be affiliated with this “WakaNetwork.com” place. Anyway, I got to the place where she asked me for credit card information and said that they don’t mind if I cancel the subscription after I get the free gifts, I just had to pay a $2.99 processing fee…NO THANK YOU. And reading this, I am glad I hung up here. Thanks.

  8. Kat says:

Im from Ohio and they call on my cell from 459-121-8344

  9. Dee says:

Must be a scam… I received over 15 calls in the past week and finally answered. After trying not to get indignant with the ultimately rude automated voice (she kept repeating herself), I asked her if i was talking to a live person. She replied, after several seconds, “No. Do Isound that good! I replied that she sounded and fake and was repeating herself. She still had the nerve to go back to beginning of instructions to put her on speakerphone on my smartphone and open a link to waka. I explained my smartphone wasnt allowing me to do both and she stated that she would not only wait but wasnt trying to sell me anything. Apparently my smartphone is smarter than those at Waka… Must be hard in the life of a scammer… People aren’t as stupid, or broke, as they must think we are.

  10. Mandi says:

They call from a 578-121-8324 number as well…I have been having them call me all day. I answered just five minutes ago and said I did an online survey which I haven’t in months due to a scam. I hung up on them and instantly went online and searched and found this article. I knew instantly when the woman started talking it was a scam, because I said I am doing good um…I haven’t done a survey. The woman was like that is good can you get near a computer, instantly I was like yeah…SCAM!

  11. Tearah says:

  12. Mimi says:

Someone called me two times from this numbers # 459 121 8344 spoke very fast so I told the woman to slow down she kept talking above my voice Sotheby’s next time she called I told her no u listen u need to stop calling my number cause I know this is a scam she hung up real quick. So far no calls back I tried calling back but it doesn’t go thru, they’ve called before in January I already looked them out, thank you for putting this info all out for us, thank your for helping a lot of people

  13. Nancy says:

I made the mistake of trusting this caller and 3 mo.s later just noticed that I was being charged 10.99 a mo. for membership. I called my bank to see what it was for . I did get thru to this no.1-8662599490 and she was still trying to get me to go on a page on my comp- to claim my 100. gift card. I told her that I wanted a refund for what they took out of my acct, I did’nt sign up for any membership.I am going to report this to my bank, it is
    definetly is a scam.

  14. supergirl=) says:

5781218324 also called me i knew it was fake fhony bithes trying to rob u

  15. Jim says:

I Just received a call from WAKA Network at (459)121-8344 telling me that i completed a survey and won $160 in gifts. These included a gift card. I was immediately suspicious, and did a google search, I found out that it is a scam. They also use 578-121-8324 to call. Please, people watch out!

  16. gio says:

  17. Meridith says:

Called from 5781218324 was definitely bull shit cause when I refused to put in credit card info and asked if I could do it by phone she just tried to ensure me my info is safe and avoided any other questions

  18. Ricardo says:

My call came from 459-121-8344. A similar thing happened to me as above. I was foolish enough to put in all of my credit card information but God must have been watching over me. Every time that I hit “enter,” my Internet Explorer browser stopped working. This happened four or five times so I hung up on her. After reading this, I am glad I hung up here. Thanks.

  28. Cathy says:

I just received a call saying I would get a $100 walmart gift card and another $100 gift card to spend on the Waka website. She then told me to go to the website. Then the opening greeting repeated twice before she seemed to speak with me again, which alerted my radar. As I was typing in the website she asked me to, I noticed one of the results was “Waka network scam”, so I was even more skeptical. She kept leading me to click on different areas of the Waka website. I asked her if was talking to a person or a machine and she answered, “No, you are talking to a real person”. I said that I did not believe her & I thought I was talking to a machine, she said “Can you hold please” and she hung up on me. I’m so glad I saw that “Waka Network Scam” when I was typing in the address. It really sounded like a real person. I was asking a lot of questions and she was answering correctly until I asked some difficult questions that had nothing to do with the website. BUYER BEWARE!

    1. Betty Ford says:

The Waka Network employees need to be prosecuted for illegal misrepresentaton.

  29. Betty Ford says:

After reading the scam survey complaints, I called the 877-332-1490. They put me on hold for 20 minutes. I talked to a real person. I told her that a processing fee of 2.98 was deducted from my checking account. Make sure that you do not deduct any more charges in the future from my checking accoount. I am living on Social Security. She told me to call back on the 25th and cancel my membership. What membership? The lady who called me on the did not mention a membership fee. I really expressed my feelings about the Waka Survey Scam. People do not make the mistake I made. I was foolish enough to believe she was mailing me a Walmart gift card and a gift card for gas.

  30. DIANE FREY says:

I WOULD NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE ANY OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION.

  31. Kathy says:

I just got a call from Walka. They said I had filled out a survey so they were going to give me a Wal Mart card and a $100 gas card. She wanted me to go to my computer. I said OK, then googled what she told me to put into my address bar. When this site came up that said it was a scam I told her what it said. She said it wasn’t true. I read more. I asked her what phone number she was calling from. Interestingly enough she hung up on me.

  32. Cecilia says:

THIS IS A SCAM…DO NOT GIVE ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION!!!YOU DON’T GET ANYTHING FOR FREE. I GOT THE SAME PHONE CALLED AND I WAS STUPID ENOUGH TO FALL INTO IT AND WHEN I TRIED TO CALL THEM BACK TO CANCELLED MY SERVICE I HAD TO WAIT 40 MINUTES UNTIL I GOT SOMEBODY. I CALLED MY CREDIT CARD COMPANY TO MAKE SURE NO OTHER CHARGES ARE MADE.
DON’T DO IT! THIS IS A BIG SCAM…

  33. Sarge says:

Big Scam…….same as all the others above… got to where I was

I just received call from 4590121-8344.
The female caller told me about walmart survey I had completed and I had been awarded gas and gift cards. Asked me to log in to a website, I did since I was at computer. She told me where to click and that I would be given a secret code to receive my awards. I told her that it was not a secure site-was assured that it was as it was secured by Norton and Verizon. Informed her that did not put me at ease since I lost computer that was secured by Norton and their involvement lessened my willingness to go any forther. When I clicked through to a page that required credit card info, I was done. BUT, she said there is only a $2.99 fee to set up a secure acccount!! Told her that if I was receiving an award or prize, I should be paying NOTHING. I think that any survey I may have completed for a prize would have included my address and they could just send it to me. She finally cut me off and thonline and saw all the scam info.anked me and hang up. I checked online and found all the scam complaints.

    1. tajarbud says:

“Sylvia” called me on my cell short time after I posted about the first call. Informed her that she had aready called me, she was delighted that I had already spoken with her, what a ====, I informed her that I had already confirmed my doubts after looking at all the scam info, thank you very much! I told her thst she would still not get a credit card number from me for a now confirmed scam.hung up as she launched the legitimact spiel again.

  38. Susan Tofteland says:

I just got a call from 459-121-8344. It took a few moments to connect through, so I knew it was an auto call. They said I had recently completed an on line survey, which I haven’t. But, my husband might have, otherwise they would not have had my cell number. I had my I pad on something else, so as I logged in to their site, I noticed the scam site listed right below. I asked the woman to hold a moment, and skimmed it. I came back on and said I just read that they are a scam, and not to call back. So, thank you for having this site!

  39. Autumn Fall says:

I receive a call to trying to get to completed an on-line survey and get my credit card number. At https://wakanetwork.com/sub/customers/wakagas2/375437.
The Payment promotional code: wakagas1576. Of course, I didn’t do it but every time I told her “no” she can up with an excuse. One of the excuse was that told she was two order to reach a bonus points. Another excuse is that the website was secure because it is protected by “Norton” and the phone call was being monitor. She told me if I have any question to call 1-877-332-1490.

Always read the fine point(at the bottom of their website):

  40. Catalina says:

I got a call from 4591218344 She sounded like a computer voice, but she was good as I made a mistake and she kept helping me to get into the web page. She gave me a code wakagas1040 and I was sent into the paying page. When I told her I didnt have any credit or debit card with me at the time she told me I could do it with my checking account. Just 2.99 dollars that I could cancel in up to 7 days but could keep my gas and walmart gift cards. When I told her I didnt have a checking account she said tank you for your time, have a nice day and hung up.

  41. Betty Ford says:

Waka Network deducted 59.99 from my checking account without my permision. I called customer service to complain. I demanded she credit my checking account for 59.99. She said she cancelled my membership that I did not order. I reported to my bank. I plan to wait 5 days to see if my checking account is credited 59.99. The telephone call is deceiving.
