5039028279 Phone Number Bothering You?

Is the phone number 503-902-8279 bothering you? Do you want to know who it is? Not to worry – it’s just an annoying telemarketer who is hounding countless others just like you, and you can safely ignore this pest. Read on for more details:

They may identify themselves with generic  names such as “Security One” or “Home Security” but really it’s just a low-end security system salesman, perhaps from a place called Mac Marketing. If you don’t answer, you’ll may just get dead air, if anything. If you do answer, you will likely get a voice-activated robo-caller asking you if they can install their security system in your home, perhaps in exchange for putting a sign in your front yard. This is a relatively old bait-and-switch technique. Read this post about the “Free Security System Yard Sign Scam” that will describe how this operates.

The caller ID indicates that they are calling from Oregon, which may or may not be accurate. Calling the number back from a blocked phone will yield the message that your number can’t be determined and to call back with an unblocked number so you can opt out of future calls. Calling back with an unblocked number will go through a removal process, but it’s unclear if they actually remove your number or not.

Block ‘em or ignore ‘em. But don’t fall for this spam tactic.

I received a call from 578-121-8324. The lady said her name was Sylvia and I was getting a $100.00 Walmart gift card for a survey I completed online. She proceeded to tell me to go to my computer and access wakanetwork.com and she would walk me thru the steps. I immediately asked “Sylvia” if this was going to require bank account information and she avoided that question and started elaborating on their secure website. During this conversation I asked her to repeat a couple things and there would be a pause followed by a generic answer. My suspicion was confirmed that “Sylvia” was a computer, not a person and a total scam. I advised “Sylvia” that I knew I was talking to a computer and hung up.
