Target Scam Gift Card Text Message
Did you get a text saying you won a Target gift card? Unfortunately, it’s just a scam, but you’re not alone because there are many people who received the same text. Read on for details.
The text we received was from 4129448456, and read:
Your entry last month has WON! Go to http://www.target.com.ppdf.biz/?claimid=113 and enter your Winning Code “6655″ to claim your FREE $500 Target Giftcard!
If you look carefully at the URL, they want you to think it’s from “target.com” but actually it’s from ppdf.biz. They disguise it with target.com.ppdf.biz, but that’s not Target.com! Take a look at the whois on this domain and you’ll see that it was created just last week and is located in Panama. Still believe them?
When you visit the site, the top says it’s a $1000 gift card – not $500. If you go there and enter the code, you’ll be redirected to target.thegiftcarddeal.com. It looks official, but it’s not. Reading the fine print at the bottom reveals that it’s just another “rewards” program in which you’ll be asked to sign up for a long list of programs which will be nearly impossible to fulfill.
I suggest you read this earlier article from a similar Best Buy gift card scam, as this is an ongoing scam. And read this one which is an almost identical scam, also pretending to award Best Buy gift card.
I tried calling the number back, only to hear a message telling me the user has not set up their voice mail. Do you think that’s a coincidence?
This site’s terms & conditions reference DailyDealFinder.com. That domain is most likely the original site from which this template was taken. DailyDealFinder.com was the subject of a March post here for a “free” iPad, based on a similar rewards program. Oddly, the Terms for this site start off:
DailyDealFinder.com
MEMBER INCENTIVE PROGRAM PARTICIPATION TERMS AND CONDITIONS.
Last Modified October 15, 2009
Bottom Line
There is no $500 or $1000 Target gift card to be “won” by anyone. It’s a “rewards” program that’s nearly impossible to complete and not even worth the time you’ve spent reading this. Ignore ‘em!

I got one from 402-419-8787 this afternoon that told me to enter “402″ at http://www.target.com.tzty.biz to claim my prize. I thought this was legitimate because it was a local number, and I had entered a drawing last month from Target.
Scammers seriously suck.
I got a scam text from 410-624-8235. “Congratulations, your entry in last month’s drawing WON you a FREE $1,000 Target Giftcard! Enter “6655″ at http://www.target.com.ppdf.biz/ to claim it NOW!” . That’s what the message told me.
Also another funny thing was that I never entered anything.

Received yesterday:
“Your entry in our drawing WON you a FREE $1,000 Target Giftcard. Enter ’513′ at http://www.target.com.tztz.biz to claim it and we can ship it to you immediately.”
I did do a Target “survey”, but it was a while back. I thought this was fishy. I tried the website and typed in the code…the next page then said I’d won a $500 Giftcard. Anything else was blocked by AVG Anti-Virus. I did try it again and the “threat” was again blocked. I also ran my cursor over the “bottom number” on the first page and it said something about “whoisamongus”. I then looked up “target gift card scams” and found numerous entries. Figured I’d put it on this one.
