Ernest Borgnine Dies at 95
Legendgardy actor Ernest Borgnine has passed away today at the age of 95 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center with his family by his side. Aside from his Oscar-winning performance in the 1955 movie “Marty,” Borgnine is also known for his big screen roles in movies such as “From Here to Eternity” and “Bad Day at Black Rock.”
Borgnine is best known on the small screen for his role as Quinton McHale in the television show “McHale’s Navy” which ran from 1962-1966, along with the 1980s show “Airwolf.” In recent years he provided the voice for the character Mermaid Man in the popular kids show “Spongebob Squarepants.” In his 90s he was nominated for a guest appearance on the hospital drama “ER” along with a life achievement award from the Screen Actors Guild in 2010.
Sources have said that the cause of death was renal failure. Borgnine married five times. He is survived by his wife over over 30 years, Tova, and four children: Nancee, Christopher, Sharon, and Diana, along with his sister Evelyn Velardi.
