Trending Today: Corona The Dog Shot in the Mouth
A horrifying image of a bleeding dog has appeared online, with a heartbreaking story of a dog named Corona who was shot in the mouth. Is this story true?
Unfortunately, in this case, the story is true. As reported by the Warren County Humane Society in Tennessee, the dog was found bleeding as a stray and reported to the Humane Society. At first the source of the wounds weren’t apparent, but after further examination, a Dr. Tate discovered that the dog had injuries and flash wounds in the mouth and throat, indicating that someone had put the barrel of a gun down the dog’s throat and pulled the trigger. It was suggested by Corona’s vet, Dr. Gayle Tate that the dog swallowed some of the bullet fragments after being shot.
As the story began circulating on Facebook, via photos posted on their Facebook page, users from around the world began leaving comments of disgust toward the abuser and sympathy for the dog. Donations began pouring in and it has been reported that all of the dog’s care has been paid for. Further donations to the Humane Society and clinic caring for Corona continue. The dog has had hundreds of offers of adoption.
Happily, Corona appears to be making a swift recovery as video shows her appearing much healthier only days after the attack and has been given an “excellent” chance of a full recovery.
“She almost died, but she didn’t,” Dr. Tate said.
As of this writing, the person responsible for abusing Corona has not been identified, though the investigation in ongoing.
For additional info about how to donate or for further updates, visit the Warren County Humane Society website.

I hope the one who did this is found and made to pay. I am greatful so many have helped financially with Corona and many want to adopt her, but PLEASE remember that THOUSANDS of dogs just like her die everyday because no one wants them. They wind up dead in the streets from abuse, or die at shelters because there is no room. PLEASE ADOPT a dog today from your local shelter or rescue and do it in honor of Corona.
Thank you for writing this and getting Corona’s story heard. There is a petition to get Corona justice. Please sign and share. Thank you!

SCAM !! warren county humane society/the humane society of warren county are a combo veterinarian’s office (sparta) and a basset hound breeder. I verified with both animal control and the sheriff’s office, they have never seen this dog and they have not been verfied it has been shot. so the dog is at a vet’s office supposedly. if this just happened, let’s see the dog. if it was shot – why isn’t there a police report? how did the humane society get it? where did the dog come from? animial trafficking? these are crossposters and I’m not sure how they are associated with the humane society but I will find out. they’re non profits – and claim to have raised 8k for a reward. wow, how could someone local come forward if the dog has been transported from another vet’s office who treated a dog that got hit by a car maybe and the owner couldn’t pay for treatment in another state? just asking….you guys have donated 8k – where’s it going?.
Actually Annie, I too phoned the Sheriff’s office from my home in Pennylvania and at no time did anyone connected with law enforcement state that the story was untrue. In fact they acknowledged the shooting of Corona and also of another dog who was shot a day or two later. They also stated that they are investigating Corona’s case as they are also investigating the case of Jake.
I’m not quite sure what your motivation is but I have seen your posts all over the web, and each and every time they are the same—pointed barbs and remarks directed at quite reputable rescue organizations.
Respectfully,
Grace
What exactly ARE you’re motivations “Annie”? You clearly have an agenda. I always say, if you’re gonna be an a#@hole…at least be good at it. You’re pathetic.
Shame on you, Annie. Corona is on the road to recovery thanks to Dr. Tate and staff at the Cannon County Animal Clinic. There are several pictures of Corona on their FB page. Check it out.
