About Aqua Rug

Aqua Rug claims to be the world’s first carpet uniquely made for your shower, tub, or anywhere there’s water, dirt, and mildew. It is designed to lay directly over your shower drain and is said to dry immediately.

The official product website is buyaquarug.com, which was registered on January 10, 2012 and it is registered to Zoom TV Products, who also markets such products as Hot Booties and the Bright Light Pillow.

How Much Does Aqua Rug Cost?

The Aqua Rug costs $19.99 + $7.99 P&H for a total cost of $27.98. They have a buy one get one free offer, if you want to pay another $7.99, so two will cost you $35.97.

As of 2014, you can find Aqua Rug in stores such as Bed, Bath, and Beyond for about $20.

The aqua rug measures 29.5 inches by 17.25 inches.

Television Commercial

Below is a television commercial for Aqua Rug which ran much of 2013 and into mid-2014. It appears that the television advertising for the product has ceased as of September 2014.

Aqua Rug Review

In our test of the product in mid-2013, we encountered two primary problems: 1. The suction cups did not hold it in place, causing it to slide in the shower, and 2. There was a tendency for the ends to curl up, causing a tripping hazard. Slipping and tripping hazards are the exact opposite of what the product advertises. On the positive side, we found the rug to be comfortable on the feet and we found no stains or mildew. We have had readers report that the rug became dirty after several uses. This could be affected by a variety of factors including the location of the rug and types of products used by the consumer.

Customers at Bed, Bath, and Beyond rate Aqua Rug at 3 stars, with almost equal 5-star and 1-star reviews.

Aqua Rug Complaints

In addition to trying out the product here, we asked readers for their opinions on the product. Based on their responses, we have compiled a list of complaints from other Aqua Rug Reviews.

  • Customer Service – Although we did not deal with customer service, several people expressed displeasure with the customer service experience.
  • Suction Cups – Many have expressed displeasure with the 4 suction cups designed to hold the Aqua Rug in place. Most people agreed with our sentiment that the rug did not stay in place, especially on textured surfaces.
  • Cleaning – The instructions state that the Aqua Rug needs to be cleaned, but doesn’t state how often or even how to do so.
  • Stains – Some have said that despite claims that it won’t stain, that they have experienced stains after a few months, particularly in the area that covers the drain.

Bottom Line

Aqua Rug is plagued by poor quality suction cups, which can actually cause the types of accidents that it is advertised to prevent. If you want to try the product, we suggest buying it from a local merchant, allowing you to avoid shipping delays and charges.
