About Chop Magic

As Seen on TV food “choppers” have been a staple of television advertising for years. Everyone remembers some of the goofy commercials in recent years for other choppers such as Slap Chop or Banzai Chopper. The latest entrant into the As Seem pm TV food chopping arena is Magic Chop, fronted by Billy Mays disciple Marc Gill.

The official website is buychopmagic.com, which was registered on May 21, 2013.

How much does Chop Magic cost?

Chop Magic costs $19.95 plus $7.95 processing and handling for a total of $27.90. You can add a second Chop Magic for another $7.95 for a grand total of $35.85. Note that when ordering online there is no way to opt out of the second “free” Chop Magic.

Below is a recent television advertisement for Chop Magic:

Transcription of television commercial

Hi, Marc Gill here with the Chop Magic. You’re gonna love the way this beauty can chop, mince, slice and dice in just seconds. Chopping vegetables the old way takes forever. It’s tough work and such a mess! Well not with Chop Magic. Go ahead, chop a whole onion in one second. No odor and no tears. Julienne peppers, squash and zucchini in just 3 seconds. That’s a stir fry that makes other choppers cry. It’s even strong enough to go through solid sweet potatoes, like a warm knife through butter, yet easily chops delicate tomatoes to perfection. Now make fresh egg salad, healthy col slaw or delicious party dips in no time. The secret: 12 ultra-sharp, stainless steel precision blades that guarantee uniform results every time. It’s so fast and easy, you can chop all the meat, cheeses and fixins for a super-sized salad bar in a fraction of the time. Why hassle with a knife and messy cutting board? Chop Magic’s catch container keeps your kitchen clean and doubles as a 6 cup mixing and measuring container. Snap on the dicing blade and instantly prepare fresh fruit salads, zesty salsa, or a mountain of garlic without it sticking to your hands. And look, everything stores inside which makes it the ultimate space saver. Plus it’s all dishwasher safe. Now during this exclusive TV only offer, you can get Chop Magic for just $19.95.  Call now and as a bonus, we’ll send you two Perfect Tortilla pans with recipe book so you can shape, bake, and create delicious tortilla bowls. Use Chop Magic to load ’em up with all your favorite toppings free!  But I’m not stopping there,  call or click now and get a second Chop Magic free, just pay separate processing and handling. Yep, you get it all, two Chop Magics and two Perfect Tortilla pans, a whopping $50 value, all yours for just $19.95.  Don’t delay, order today!

Our Chop Magic Review

Because Chop Magic is not available in stores, we ordered it online and it took nearly 6 weeks to arrive.

Our initial impression merely from the advertising is that it looked to be made of inexpensive plastic, and we were right. The plastic is not of high quality, and the blades – while seemingly sharp upon first inspection – feel flimsy and cheaply made. Size-wise, it is about what we expected.

We found that Chop Magic can perform some easier chopping tasks effectively, but it isn’t always the cinch that the advertising shows. A certain amount of force must be used to complete the cutting process, and chopping some items requires a significant amount of force. Potatoes, in particular, were almost impossible to chop with this product.

Ordering
The first negative item we noted was in ordering the product via the website. There is no subtotal given after you fill in your credit card details, and it isn’t even clear if you’re ordering just one Chop Magic, or if they automatically setting you up with the buy one, get one for extra shipping.

Some of our commenters below felt they were billed even more than they expected, likely due to the confusing ordering process.

If you want to order a Chop Magic online, be prepared to be charged $35.85 for two, as there is no way to just order one. The order page only lets you select in groups of buy one/get one, as they state:

“How many buy one, get one free Chop Magic™ chopper sets would you like to order?”

There is no option to simply order one Chop Magic.

There is no option to simply order one Chop Magic.

Some consumers may find this marketing tactic to be deceptive, as they advertise Chop Magic for $19.95, but provide no way to order just one.
