About Easy View XT

Easy View XT Glare Blocker is a tinted plastic product which attaches to your car’s rear-view mirror and is designed to reduce glare from the sun.

The product was originally marketed in 2013 as Easy View HD. At some point in 2014 the product was rebranded “XT” instead of “HD.” The official website for the original product was easyviewhd.com, which was registered on July 11, 2013. This now forwards to easyviewxt.com, which was registered in March 2014.

Below is a screen shot of the original “HD” website, taken in October 2013:

In 2014, the product and website were re-branded, as seen in this screen shot of the 2014 “XT” version of the website. As of this March 2015 revision, the website remains unchanged.

How much does Easy View XT cost?

Easy View XT costs $10 plus $7.95 processing for a total of $17.95. You get a second set for an additional $1.95, for a grand total of $19.90. Originally, the second cost cost an additional $7.95 and buyers could not opt out of this second “free” set, but it appears that the price has been lowered and consumers can now choose to opt out of the second set.

You may want to take extra care in the ordering process. There is no confirmation screen to double-check your order. Some customers have found the ordering process confusing, and were surprised to see $20+ shipping when placing an order.

You can find Easy View XT in some stores for about $10. It may pay to shop around and go this route if you’d like to try the product.

Easy View XT Television Commercial

Below is a TV ad for the original Easy View HD:

The product appears unchanged after it was re-branded as Easy View XT, as seen in the commercial below.

Our Easy View XT Reviews

Easy View XT is merely a tinted piece of transparent plastic with two bands which allow it to slide over your car’s visor. While the materials and design appear cheap, the product does generally perform as advertised in reducing glare.

Our original review of this product came in October 2013 when it was still known as “Easy View HD.” At that time it was sold with a “high density sun diffuser” – which we found to be more useful than the Easy View HD itself. That item attached to the Easy View HD and could be slid left to right. The diffuser provided additional glare reduction when the sun is shining directly in your eyes. It does not appear that the sun diffuser is now offered with the re-branded XT product.

The visuals in the television commercials depict a more dramatic change than we experienced in our tests, but overall we found that the product did reduce some glare.

Easy View XT vs Sunglasses

Perhaps the most obvious question is whether or not Easy View XT is better than simply wearing a pair of sunglasses (although some sunglasses reduce glare better than others). Sunglasses are also not designed for nighttime use. For these reasons, Easy View XT does hold a slight edge over sunglasses. If you have a decent pair of polarized sunglasses, Easy View XT will probably not provide much of an additional benefit while driving during the daytime.

Google Trends History

The Google Trends graph below displays search interest in “Easy View XT” over time. A peak surge of interest occurred in April of 2014, shortly after the product was rebranded with the XT name. Another large surge of interest occurred in January of 2015.

Bottom Line

Easy View XT does work to reduce glare, although it’s difficult to justify paying nearly $20 for two pieces of plastic attached to elastic bands if you order online. If you find yourself regularly dealing with glare while driving, Easy View XT may be worth a try. The “high density sun diffuser” which was originally sold with the product was a valuable addition which appears to be no longer available.

You can find Easy View XT in stores, and we recommend purchasing locally to avoid shipping delays and costs.
