Hurricane 360 Television Commercial

Below is the official commercial for the Hurricane 360 Spin Mop:

Transcription of the television commercial above:

It’s time to get off your hands and knees and say hello the Hurricane 360 Spin Mop. Finally, a floor cleaning system that really does leave everything else in the dust. A system that keeps practically anything and everything and uses patented centrifugal spinning technology so you’re using a clean mop to leave your floors spic and span. Now you can harness the power of the Hurricane 360 Spin Mop. Its thousands of thirsty microfiber fingers absorb practically anything and everything so your floors are spotless each and every time and the best part, your hands will never again touch a dirty disgusting mop. The Hurricane Mop is the only mop that uses a rotating action to clean and polish. It easily works up against base boards without scratching and maneuvers around and under furniture so you’ll never bend over again. It’s so thirsty it will pick up giant spills in one easy motion and it doesn’t drip or leave a nasty trail like other mops. It even picks up dust, dirt, pet hair, and more without sweeping, cutting your cleaning time in half. And the magic is just beginning, when it’s full and dirty just dip it in the washer side and the micro fiber fingers expand dropping the mess into the bucket. Then, take the clean mop, place into the dryer side with the patented centrifugal spinner and push on the pedal. Nearly all the liquid spins out leaving you with a clean mop head that’s practically dry and ready for more. It’ll buff wood to a streak-free shine. It’ll put the sheen and shine back on to your ceramic tile. For travertine and marble, it’s the best and if you got laminate, nothing cleans and shines like the hurricane spin mop. At less than two pounds, it goes up and down stairs with ease. Each bucket comes with dual pour spouts so you’ll never touch dirty disgusting water again. The bucket is so strong it can even hold the weight of Mike Sullivan. Because your hands never touch the mop head, you can use super hot water and any cleaning solution. It even has the power to remove scuff marks without scratching. Our Hurricane 360 Spin Mop Review

We first evaluated this product in mid-2013. Immediately upon unpacking the mop, it was apparent that the product was cheaply-made and smaller in appearance than expected. The handle was perhaps the biggest issue, feeling flimsy and too short to hold without leaning over. We were also unable to screw the handle in completely. The bucket is made of plastic that does not feel durable, and the foot pedal is difficult to operate at times.

We tested out the Hurricane 360 on wood floors with visible scuff marks and dog hair, and it was satisfactory in picking up both dirt and dog hair. Matched up against a cheaper Swiffer Sweeper, however, we’d give the Swiffer a slight edge. The Hurricane is probably better suited for smaller areas, as it seemed less effective in large areas and its round design did not clean corners at all.

Many of our commenters below have expressed frustration with the online ordering process. Fortunately, this can be remedied by simply purchasing locally, as the product is now available in stores such as Bed, Bath, and Beyond.

Alternatives to Hurricane 360 Spin Mop

There are a multitude of spin mops available, all which closely resemble the design of this product. These similar products can be found on such sites as HSN, or in local stores such as Walmart. They range in price from about $30 to $40.

Hurricane itself has a new version of the spin mop available, the Hurricane Twin Spin. This product is advertised as half the weight of the original, but able to perform twice the work. It sells for about the same price as the original Hurricane 360 Spin Mop.

Bottom Line

As with so many “As Seen on TV” products, Hurricane 360 Spin Mop is another great idea which is poorly executed. The concept of the Hurricane 360 is idealized in the television ads, but the reality of the product is that it’s just a cheaply-made, over-priced mop. This could be part of the reason why the company has released a follow-up product, which we have yet to evaluate.
