LongLifeLoveTips and LoveGenieTips Text Messages

Did you receive a text from short code 84930 or 83660 telling you that you are signed up for LongLifeLoveTips or LoveGenieTips for $9.99 per month? Let's take a look at these identical services and what this message is all about.

These services are duplicates of the same service. They are called Long Life Love Tips and Love Genie Tips and offer to send you three messages per week, with “flirting tips” for a cost of $9.99 per month. Some people insist that they never subscribed to, nor confirmed, such a service. This is often the case with these types cell “premium” subscription services, which make it far too easy to accidentally subscribe (I once hit a wrong button on my phone and was immediately signed up for a $9.99 a month service!).

The “3 messages per week” charge appears to be standard fare for such services. One must wonder if 12 text messages about flirting is worth $10.

The Text Message
Many people have complained that they never signed up for the service, but received a text “confirming” their subscription. Such a confirmation message may look like this:

Subsc renewed 1 mo. 3msg/week for $9.99/mo billed to cell. Msg&Data rates may apply Reply Help for help. Reply Stop to cancel. 888.795.3844.

Bottom Line
LongLifeLoveTips.com and LoveGenieTips.com are essential the same “premium” service that charges $9.99 a month for 3 flirting messages a week.  This is a modern take on the concept of “cramming” in which small easy-to-overlook charges are added to your phone bill. In the case of “premium” SMS services, they make signing up easy and canceling difficult. And the service they offer is essentially useless.

Complain to the FTC
You can take your case a little farther than just canceling, by filing a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.  Their website states: “Even if you get a refund, if you suspect you’ve been a victim of cramming, notify the FTC at ftc.gov, or by calling 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357).”
