Michael Moore Encourages Release of Sandy Hook Crime Scene Photos

Activist filmmaker Michael Moore has published a blog post in which he encourages the release of Sandy Hook crime scene photos in order to end the debate on gun control.

In an article entitled, America You Must Not Look Away (How to Finish Off the NRA), Moore discusses past tragedies in which images of victims were used to sway public opinion regarding political issues.

Moore states that the horror of seeing the children “with their bodies blown apart” would prompt Americans to “spring into action” on the gun control issue. He also predicts that someone close to the shooting will eventually leak photos of the murdered children.

And when the American people see what bullets from an assault rifle fired at close range do to a little child’s body, that’s the day the jig will be up for the NRA. It will be the day the debate on gun control will come to an end. There will be nothing left to argue over. It will just be over. And every sane American will demand action.

A Washington Post blog opined that the mainstream media would never release such photos, while FoxNews quoted Dorrie Carolan, co-president of the Newtown Parent Connection, who described the idea as a “horrendous offense.”

Moore has set his sights on the Second Amendment, stating, “Most of us continue to say we ‘support the Second Amendment’ as if it were written by God (or we’re just afraid of being seen as anti-American). But this amendment was written by the same white men who thought a Negro was only 3/5 human. We’ve done nothing to revise or repeal this – and that makes us responsible, and that is why we must look at the pictures of the 20 dead children laying with what’s left of their bodies on the classroom floor in Newtown, Connecticut.”

Moore is being accused of using the tragedy in order to promote a political agenda. He is also accused of hypocrisy, as it was reported that Moore may have kept an armed bodyguard on staff. This was evidenced by a January, 2005 report of an incident at an airport where bodyguard Patrick Burke was apparently taken into custody after declaring a gun at a ticket counter. The story gained some traction in conservative media in late 2012. We couldn’t find a response from Moore or liberal news sources regarding this issue.

What do you think of Moore’s statements about the Sandy Hook photos and gun control?
