An image taken of a dog immediately after the Moore, Oklahoma tornado has been heavily shared online. A reader asked us to find out what happened to this dog.
The Photo
The image was posted on Instagram by Weather Channel Senior Producer Mike Jenkins. The caption read: This dog survived with its owners in a storm shelter during the Moore, OK tornado.
When prompted about the whereabouts of the owner and why the dog was tied up, Jenkins responded, “The owner was standing right next to it.”
The owner apparently tied the dog to a stack of bricks in order to prevent his pet from running off among all the commotion.
Bottom Line
This dog was safe and with his owners when the photo was taken. The dog does look stressed – just as many other humans in the area were – in the wake of the massive tornado.
