SpeedMaxPC is a heavily-advertised product which claims to optimize your computer to “supercharge” performance. Have you used this product? We want to hear from you.

SpeedMaxPC.com was registered on April 10, 2010. The website claims that their product is an “all-in-one PC performance software” designed to “fix, clean, and optimize your computer.”

It is claimed that this optimization will consist of:
- Managing startup items
- Cleaning the Windows database
- Defragging
- Cleaning up duplicate and temporary files
- Delete Internet cache and history
- Remove web add-ons
- Remove spyware, adware, malware, etc.
- Privacy controls
The requirements lists Windows XP through Windows 7. It doesn’t mention Windows 8 as of this writing.
Cost
There is a free trial, which allows you to scan your computer but if you want to actually fix anything, you’ll have to buy it. You can purchase a single computer license for $29.97 (they claim this is discounted from $39.97, but this “discount” is likely always in place). They also have pricing for multiple computers:
2 Computers: $49.97
3 Computers: $69.97
5 Computers: $89.97
10 Computers: $159.97
Positive Reviews?
As with most product websites, the reviews posted on SpeedMaxPC.com are uniformly positive. Oddly, all of those reviews (as of this writing) are all from 2011.
The Web of Trust Reputation for SpeedMaxPC is listed as “Very Poor” in all categories. Note also that there is a lack of high-profile endorsements on their website.
Complaints
We’ve received several complaints from our readers about SpeedMaxPC. The complaints range from “it doesn’t work” to “it’s malware” to constant error messages of questionable “problems.”
Newest Version
The most recent version of SpeedMaxPC is 3.1.5 and was released on December 4, 2012.
Bottom Line
If you want a more objective view of PC cleaners, view CNET’s highest-rated products in this category. I use the free version of CCleaner, and have found it to suit my needs. (Note that SpeedMaxPC is not ranked very high on this site, with only a 2-star rating.) I also suggest running SuperAntiSpyware, which does a great job of getting rid of viruses, malware, and other issues. There are free and paid versions of this product.
