I want to state upfront that I will give you specific numbers here, unlike so many other “experts” who dance around the topic.
Virtually every blog about blogging has attempted to tackle the question of how often you should write in your blog, and nearly all of them say the exact same thing: it depends. They’ll also tell you that you should focus more on quality content than quantity of posts.
Good advice I suppose, but rather obvious and useless advice, isn’t it? That’s yet another reason I loathe blogs about blogging. So many of those blogs about blogging are written by people who have never found success outside of blogging about blogging. (Do you get that I have an issue with many of those blogs?)
But I digress…
Here at Waffles, we’ll hook you up with some actual answers.

On the low end, if you’re a new blog, I’d suggest posting as close to ...

Naming your blog or website is the first choice and most important decision you have to make in the early stages of blogging. Opinions on how you should go about choosing a name are as varied as the number of blogs out there. And every day that goes by, more and more “blogs about blogging” flood the web on such tops, creating a sea of mixed opinions.
What do others say?
Though there are lots of ideas out there, we can’t completely subscribe to all of them. Dailyblogtips.com lists such things as choosing descriptive and easy to remember names. Sure, it can be descriptive, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be, now does it? As this blog on Wordful.com points out, such names as Skype or Dooce don’t mean anything but are easy to remember. Of course that blog also says that a 4-syllable short name is essential, which may or may not hold water (Wait… waf-fles-at-noon is four syllables, ...

This is one article I just couldn’t resist. I have a sort of love-hate relationship with those “blogs about blogging” but alas… I can’t resist the carrot and must wade into those murky waters myself.
So I was on the phone with an old friend today and he was peppering me with questions about blogging, which I found oddly exhilarating. I never thought much of blogging as exhilaration as much as a matter-of-fact presentation of information. But his questions led me to thinking about some of the “rules” a lot of these “bloggers about blogging” come up with. Hey, a lot of them are creating a fantastic product, but it seems like the bandwagon is pretty full here. And we really don’t like rules regarding creativity.
I did find this post quite interesting, which is right up my alley in the way the writer breaks down data and analyzes it spreadsheet-style. I tip my ...

I started noticing certain words on this blog were highlighted and pointing to a certain website that was completely unrelated to me. The website was jxliu.com, which I had never heard of before. After a Google search yielded nothing, I was at a complete loss. After significant trial and error, I may have actually eliminated jxliu.com.

I looked at the code on my page as it loaded in the browser, and there were no links in the code at all. I searched the template code for my blog, and again I found nothing. I decided to view the blog from a different computer (using the same browser – Chrome in this case) and the links were not there, which made me realize that these links were probably generated on my end, and not from my blog. A quick search for jxliu.com on my Windows 7 search bar revealed the location of ...

Aside from blogs by experts or celebrities, have you noticed that the most successful blogs are the ones focusing on how to create successful blogs? And so many of them all say the same things, too. It seems there is a huge network of blogs that are popular because they tell people how to be popular. But those blogs themselves didn’t get popular with “normal” content.
Kind of like how the only people making money from “business opportunities” are the ones selling them, not the ones buying them. The most successful bloggers are the ones telling others how to be successful blogging. And most of the time, their readers don’t reap the same rewards.

If you remove the experts, celebrities, bloggers on established websites (cnn.com for example), and the “how to blog” blogs out of the mix, it becomes clear that blogging as a means of income is rather limited.
I know you’d ...

Every blogger eventually hits a wall and runs out of ideas. You know there are endless great postings inside you, but what do you have to offer that people might be interested in?Those are actually two questions.
What do you have to offer?
What do people want to read?
If you have something to offer, people will want to read it. No matter what the focus of your blog is, you should never limit your scope. Provided your posts are properly categorized, most readers won’t mind some tangents, and many will probably appreciate it. A few off-topic posts help enrich even the most focused blogs. If your readers are interested in what you have to say about one topic, most of them will want to read your thoughts on other topics as well.
Everyone has something to offer. My interests are wildly varied, which is exactly how my blog reads. There’s something for everyone ...

Before I even get started, allow me to say upfront that I’m not trying to sell you anything. I won’t ramble on and on about some huge “secret” to making money online, only to let you know you can purchase this secret in some cheesy ebook like so many others do.
I will tell you what you need to know, but be prepared that it might not be want you want to hear.
It’s not easy and you will probably fail.
“Making money online” sounds like your generic web bait, aimed at every working stiff who thinks they can make billions by simply registering a domain name. I’ve been involved in web development and design since 1994, and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had people approach me with their million dollar ideas. Some people even had flow sheets, projected traffic reports – the whole nine yards. The excitement in their ...
