Our Tan Physics Review

We evaluated Tan Physics with several women here in Las Vegas who have used several sunless products, along with professional spray tans and tanning salons.

Our testers expressed concerns with this product which also plague other sunless tanners, notably the smell and streaking. In several cases, testers noted that the product did not last more than a few hours before it started coming off. This can be a problem with any sunless tanning products, including professional spray tans, and largely depends on the skill of the person applying it.

Regarding the color, it is very subtle at first, and takes multiple applications to achieve a “tan.” There was no consensus regarding the quality of the color, with opinions influenced by the skin tone of the individual tester. Whereas one tester described the tone as “golden” another referred to it as “orange.”

Our testers gave uniformly positive marks to the quick drying time, along with the exfoliate.

It would seem that a hybrid skin care and sunless tanning product would contain SPF, but Tan Physics does not.

The final discussion among our testers concluded that the product was acceptable for some users, but offered little advantage over readily-available sunless tanning alternatives found in most stores.

Bottom Line

The negative feedback we received regarding Tan Physics mirrors that of many other sunless tanning products: Questionable smell and inability to remain for a sufficient duration after application.

Tan Physics True Color Sunless tanning attempts to tackle two highly-competitive markets at once. These lofty goals, however, are perhaps the product’s greatest downfall, as it never really masters either as well as those products which specialize in either sunless tanning or skin care. Beauty shops and drug stores have shelves lined with many skin care and sunless tanning products.

Our testers suggested alternatives by Banana Boat, Neutrogena, and Victoria’s Secret – all of which are considerably less expensive than Tan Physics.
