What Happens When You “Like” and Press 1 for this Sinkhole Photo?

A photo shared online shows a giant sinkhole on a city street. Users are encouraged to “like” the photo and type the number “1” to see what happens next.

Nothing will happen.

It’s a hoax aimed at gaining likes. The photo is often accompanied by a caption that reads:

Press Like and type the number 1 and see what happens to the image!

These types of trick posts flooded Facebook back in 2012 and 2013. Although they have greatly diminished by 2015, many of these old posts can still be found online. Either way, clicking “like” and typing “1” on a Facebook image will not make anything happen, nor will sharing it.

The Real Photo

The photo featured is in fact a real sinkhole that appeared in Guatemala back in 2010. It is about 60 feet wide and 30 stories deep.

Bottom Line

Commenting on the sinkhole photo above will not reveal anything about the image. The photo itself is real and shows a sinkhole which appeared in Guatemala back in 2010.
