The true source of this photo is the website Worth1000.com, which holds a variety of graphics arts contests.

The image is entitled “Giant Discovery” and came in 4th place in a contest entitled, “PS Bonus Contest: Archaeological Anomalies 12: Amazing archaeological discoveries!”

It was posted by an artist using the name YearoftheDragon, who included a note which read, “Time to re-write the history books? ;)”

In the years since this artwork was originally posted, some internet users have attempted to pass the photo off as real – perhaps as “proof” of UFO’s or giants. It is often circulated without the “Worth1000” logo on the graphic, which would tip off most viewers that the graphic is not real.

In 2015, this image was posted along with two others in a Facebook post which received tens of thousands of shares.

As you can see from the Google Trends chart below, interest in the search phrase “giant skulls” has been relatively consistent over the past several years, with a significant peak in late 2011.

Bottom Line

The image of two giant skulls being unearthed is not real. It was created for a graphic arts contest on the website Worth1000 several years ago.
