McDonald’s will begin selling mozzarella sticks nationwide beginning in 2016.

The addition to the menu was announced by McDonald’s US President Mike Andres at a meeting in New York on November 10, 2015.
The fried cheese sticks were announced over the summer as a test at 125 McDonald’s restaurants in Wisconsin as part of the Lovin’ Value Menu. It was apparently successful enough for the idea to go national.
A mere $1 will get you three mozzarella sticks and hot marinara dipping sauce. Steve Kilian Jr., a local McDonald’s franchisee, said, “The portion size gives customers the opportunity to eat it as a snack or, if they are a little hungrier, use it to accompany a meal.”
On November 6, a the McDonald’s Tristate Twitter account posted a photo of the mozzarella sticks with dipping sauce.

A specific date for the nationwide rollout has not been announced. The locations currently selling the sticks are primarily limited to southeastern Wisconsin and other isolated franchises.
