Target, Disney Hoaxes Making Rounds on Facebook Again
It seems like every few months, there is another fake promotion that spreads on Facebook. In the past 24 hours, we’ve seen the resurgence of two such “offers” on the social network. Users are told they can get either a $250 gift card from Target, free Disneyland tickets – neither of which are true.
Target Gift Card Scam
Surely, if Target were giving away gift cards, they’d advertise. What this “promotion” actually does is take you to a site that wants you to sign up for one of their “participation required” in which you’ll be asked to sign up for a long list of programs which will be nearly impossible to fulfill. Read our article about the Best Buy Gift Card scam for an idea of how these work.
Disney Free Ticket Scam
This is a Facebook “event” that keeps cropping up. The text is almost always the same, and reads:
Celebrating a whopping $2 Billion profit in 2011, Dinseyland has decided to giveaway free tickets to facebook users!
To get yours, Follow the steps below :
Step 1 : Click on “Join” at the top of the page.
Step 2 : Click ” Invite Friends” at the top of the page and select your friends and click SUBMIT. Tickets you receive depends upon amount of friends you invite.
Invite 50 Friends = 1 Ticket
Invite 100 Friends = 2 Tickets
Invite 200 Friends = 3 Tickets
Invite 500 Friends = 4 Tickets
Once again, this is just a phony front to get you to sign up with a ridiculous “rewards program” that is virtually impossible to fulfill, and requires you to drag your friends into it as well.
If you see anyone sharing such bogus Target or Disneyland offers, drop a link to this article in the comments to get them back to reality!

Twitter users should also beware, as that network isn’t immune either. Read this article about a recent Disney scam floating around there.
