125-pound Woman Sets 72oz Steak Eating Record

Look out Joey Chestnut and Takeru Kobayashi because there’s a new competitive eating sheriff in town and her name is Molly Schuyler.

Schuyler, a 34-year-old mother of four, shattered the Guinness World Record for eating a 72-ounce
steak by devouring the monster filet in just 2 minutes and 44 seconds, shattering the previous mark of 6 minutes and 48 seconds held by Peter “Furious Pete” Czerwinski.

Watch the world record performance below:

Schuyler, a bartender/server at Applebee’s, came into prominence in the competitive eating world in 2012 when she became the first woman to win the Stellanator, a food challenge at Stella’s Grill in Nebraska. The Stellanator sandwich includes six hamburger patties, six eggs, six pieces of cheese and six pieces of bacon topped with fried onions, jalapenos, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, two buns, mayonnaise, and nearly a jar of peanut butter.

Molly has won several contests over the last 18 months, mostly involving pizza, wings, and burgers. In 2013 she signed with All Pro Eating, the world’s only professional competitive eating organization. She’s currently ranked the world’s No. 1 female competitive eater.

Schuyler is off to a fast start in 2014. The day before demolishing the steak, she polished off a 12-pound sub with a pound of fries at Portland’s Mad Greek Deli and took home the $650 prize for her efforts.

The eating machine closed 2013 on a high note, snarfing down nine pounds of cottage cheese in less than two minutes.

It will be interesting to see what Molly does against the boys in the Nathan’s hot dog eating contest on the 4th of July.
