2-Year Old Injured by Razor Blades on Playground Equipment

A set of photos circulating online shows the hand of a child who was injured while playing on playground equipment sabotaged with razor blades. Is this true or false?

The story is true.

Let’s first take a look at what is being circulated.

Please pay attention everyone!

This happened in East Moline, IL at Millennium Park.

My friend’s poor baby boy was hurt at the park after he unknowingly held onto a razor that was plastered onto the playground by some twisted-sick person. Thankfully he is okay but I wanted to put this out there since she has given me permission.

It doesn’t matter how far away from here this happened, I will be paying so much more attention now to things that should never have to cross a parent’s mind.

KWQC in East Moiline, Illinois reported  that a tw0-year old boy cut his hand while grabbing the razor-laden equipment. The boy’s father contacted police after discovering 12 razors attached to the park equipment with a “putty-like substance.”

Police Lieutenant Brian Foltz told KWQC, “I’ve seen a lot of things, but not razor blades glued to equipment at a park. East Moline parks are safe, but it’s just a bad situation, bad instance where somebody, or maybe a group of kids, I don’t know who did this, but figured this would be a fun prank to do.”

Officials say that, while no razors have been found at other nearby parks, other vandalism has occurred and that residents should be vigilant watching for anything out of the ordinary.

These types of incidents, while isolated, do occur in public settings. Some readers may recall reports in 2011 and 2013 that nails were found in cheese in dog parks.
