Jamie Foxx has caused an uproar by his recent description of Barack Obama as “our lord and savior.” Was this spoken in jest or did he completely cross the line?
The remarks came at the beginning of the 2012 Soul Train Music awards that aired earlier this week. It was filmed in Las Vegas just after President Obama’s re-election. “First of all, give an honor to God and our lord and savior Barack Obama,” he shouted.
Defenders point to the fact that the audience was laughing, taking his remarks as a joke, while detractors claim this is another indication of the deification of Obama by the far left. BeliefNet, a religious website, speculated that the words were spoken for their shock value, in place of curse words that aren’t as startling in modern times.
A graphic was spotted circulating on Facebook shortly after the event, with a photo of Foxx with the word “Idiot” stamped across it, including the caption, “Idiot Alert! Jamie Foxx opened a TV show saying, “First of all, give an honor to God and our lord and savior Barack Obama.” LIKE if you agree we have only one Lord and Savior and it is not Barack Obama.” As of this writing, he photo has been shared over 40,000 times, with over 30,000 comments – most of them negative.
Let us know what you think in the comments below. Was it just in good fun, poor judgement, or has Jamie Foxx crossed the line completely?
