On February 21, ESPN writer Brian Windhorst tweeted the news that there was no Space Jam 2 in the works:
Well it was fun while it lasted. LeBron sources refute Deadline report, there’s no Space Jam 2 or Warner Bros. project in works.
Darren Rovell also tweeted that there were no “substantive discussions” regarding James’ role in a Space Jam sequel. The phrase substantive discussions led some fans to believe that some discussions had taken place, but nothing yet had come out of them.
Other fans pointed out that Warner Bros. had not yet weighed in on the rumors of a Space Jam 2.
