Have you received a call from ACSI, also known as Allied Collection Service, Inc.? Allied is a sort of bottom-of-the-barrel collection agency, not that there are any well-respected collection agencies out there, mind you. But Allied does seem to hold a special affinity among its clients as being indifferent, relentless, and sometimes inaccurate. The rapport they have with their customers seems to be rather special. So what about this Allied place anyway?
One of our readers was lucky enough to receive a call from 702-939-8684 recently, and the following message was left on voicemail:
(NAME) this is Sam Walker over here at ACSI. Gimme a call back as soon as you receive this message. I can be reached directly at 702-737-5506 and my direct extension to reach me is 6553. Gimme a call back as soon as you receive this message.
This person admitted that there probably was an outstanding medical bill that probably promoted this call, but his attitude is what we’ve found over and over again: I may owe someone something, but there’s no way I’m talking to a collector.
Further research in to ASCI reveals some of the strongest, most angry commentary available.
Allied apparently works on a contingency basis, meaning they only get paid for bad debt when they collect. This is the fuel behind the aggressive tactics they use. The problem is that they’re known for hounding bad numbers or relatives of deceased. They are probably also working against the clock, as they claim not to take any debts past the statute of limitations in the state in question.
In addition to collections, they also offer bad check recover and skip-tracing services. The bad check service is also on a contingency basis. Skip-tracing is when Allied attempts to locate the address of someone who has moved and left no forwarding address. This is done via access to various private and public databases. A call from Allied could possibly be related to one of these services rather than the typical outstanding bill collection.
Another interesting note on their website in the “About Us” section, regarding their representatives, it is claimed “Their average experience is over eight years. More than half of them have nearly 12 years of experience.” It’s humorous to compare that statement with the livid consumer complaints about the lack of knowledge, intelligence, and professionalism received from these representatives.
Allied belongs to organizations ACA International, AAHAM, and HFMA. Their national phone number is 800-310-3349.
If you feel you are being harassed by Allied, you have some options:
• Report them to the Federal Trade Commission
• Report them to the BBB
• File a Cease & Desist letter
• File a complaint with the State Attorney General

We have been informed that Allied is also calling from the number 702-939-8300. If they leave a message, they’ll identify themselves but won’t say why they’re calling, as to be expected from a collection agency. So be on the lookout for 7029398300 as well.
