“Cuddle Theater”

Referred to on social media as a “cuddle movie theater,” this movie theater by TGV Cinemas is located in the Sunway Pyramid Mall. It features “seats” that are comprised of 2-person bean-bag chairs designed for couples, or one person who really wants to stretch out. This reviewer stated that the price was “almost double” the standard movie ticket price, but still seemed satisfied with the experience.

As Bean Bags R Us pointed out, there are “bean bag cinemas sprouting up in cities all over the world” and provides a list of 10 examples. Although it lists two in the U.S., one is private and one is merely a lounge. As of yet, we haven’t seen a “cuddle theater” quite like the Beanieplex here in the U.S.

As you can see from the Google Trends chart below, interest in the terms “cuddle theater” and “beanieplex” first appeared at the beginning of 2012 and have maintained interest ever since.

There are, of course, luxury theaters of other designs around the world, such as at theater at Boston’s The Revere which offers meals from award-winning chefs to patrons seated on comfy love seats. There are also Galaxy Theaters Valley which serve wine to customers who are seated in full recliners.

Have you been to an unusual luxury theater?
