It’s not real.

The image was merely an entry for an online graphic arts contest. We spotted the picture with the following caption being circulated:

REALLY??? Okay… now what do YOU think? Is this real?

The Image

An artist known as Arsidubu won first place in the the “Coolest. Toy. Ever. 2” contest on the Worth1000 website all the way back in 2002 with this particular entry, entitled “My First Tattoo Gun.” It shows a child with a “Mommy” tattoo and this “toy” tattoo gun. Other entries in this contest included a fully-functional Spiderman web shooter, an automated snowball shooter, and a child’s attack aircraft.

Girl Crush Magic Tattoo

A reader pointed out that there was a child’s “tattoo gun” under the name Girl Crush Magic Tattoo that allowed girls to put a temporary tattoo on themselves. You can see a commercial (in Spanish) for the product below. That product used stencils and a spray-on color to create temporary tattoos.

Bottom Line

The image is not real, but was a contest entry creating imaginary “cool” child toys on the website worth1000.com. A child’s product called Girl Crush Magic Tattoo was marketed in the early 2000’s which resembled a tattoo gun and created temporary tattoos.
