A graphic which is often seen on social media allegedly shows the child star of the 1990s movie “Matilda” today, who now supposedly resembles an older man.

In short, the comparison is not true. Let’s first take a look at the comparison.

The two photos, which have been seen on sites such as Reddit and Twitter, compare the child actor who starred in the 1996 film Matilda alongside a photo of a male actor, with the caption, “Remember Matilda? This is her now, feel old yet?”

Analysis

The graphic above appears to have been created as a joke, using two photos taken at a similar angle of two actors with perhaps some vague similarities in facial features. The implication is that the Matilda star grew up to be a transgender man.

The actress who played Matilda is Mara Wilson, who was born in 1987.

The photo on the right is that of Peter Stormare in his role of John Abruzzi from the Fox series Prison Break. Stormare was born in 1953, making him 34 years older than Mara Wilson.

The video below shows Mara Wilson today, and – not surprisingly – she doesn’t resemble a man in his 60s.

This is not the first time such a false comparison has been made. A similar graphic has circulated comparing the star of High School Musical with Meghan Trainor.

Bottom Line

The graphic which allegedly shows the Matilda star today appears to have been created as a joke. It actually shows Mara Wilson and Peter Stormare, who were born over three decades apart.
