About Ruggies

This anti-slip rug gripper has been advertised on television since around the beginning of 2013. The official website is buyruggies.com, which was registered on August 2, 2012. It should be noted that other references to “ruggies” online appear to describe a certain type of cookie. One of their taglines is “Ruggies grip so rugs don’t slip!”

Ruggies are installed on the underside of rug corners, providing grip in order to avoid sliding on the surface below. They claim this is achieved without leaving residue or damaging the rug or floor.

How much do Ruggies cost?

Online, Ruggies are sold in packages of 8 for a total of $19.95 ($10 + $9.95 P&H), with a second set included free, bringing your total to 16 for $19.95.

Price change: Note that in 2013, Ruggies were $10 + $7.95, with the second set “free” for an additional $7.95 for a total of $25.90.

You can find Ruggies in stores, such as Bed, Bath, and Beyond for $9.99 for an 8-pack.

Our Ruggies Review

We found Ruggies to be more expensive and less effective than brand-name rolls of rug tape. A sizable roll of Duck brand “Hold-It” for rugs, for example, costs under $10 and can easily be found in stores. Neither Ruggies nor “Hold-It” damaged the flooring or rugs when we used them.

We found that Ruggies struggled to grip both the rug and the floor, often sticking to the floor but not the rug. Whether it was tile or laminate, Ruggies performed poorly in our tests.

Ruggies are easily found in stores, such as this display at a Bed, Bath, and Beyond.

Warranty

There is a “30-Day Money Back Guarantee (minus P&H)” mentioned on the website.

This is the Ruggies website as captured in May 2013.

Affiliate Marketing

Attempts to find truly objective reviews of Ruggies can lead you through a path of fake affiliate websites looking to cash in on the product. Typically an affiliate “review” of Ruggies will offer a glowing endorsement followed by a big link to the order page of the product.

Bottom Line

Ruggies are an inefficient anti-slip solution for rugs. There are less expensive options at local stores which are easily more effective. If you want to try them, pick them up locally to avoid shipping costs and delays, and to make the return process easier.
