This supplement has become the darling of online marketers since late 2012 when Dr. Oz hailed it as a “holy grail” of weight loss on his daytime television show. The first time we wrote about PureGarciniaCambogia.com was back in April 2013 when we compared some of the more popular vendors. At that time, there was no way to order this product without first going through their “free trial.” They have since added the ability to order without a free trial. There are, however, a few red flags that we have noticed about this particular vendor. Consider:

• Origin: The website puregarciniacambogia.com was registered on October 31, 2013. That is a mere three days after the airing of the Dr. Oz episode. This smacks of a product jumping on a bandwagon, rather than being developed independently of the Dr. Oz episode.
• Banned Videos: As of this writing, there are two videos embedded on the home page of puregarciniacambogia.com, but they are unavailable because the YouTube account which posted them has been terminated, as seen in the screen capture below.
• Oz Name: This vendor uses Dr. Oz’ name in internet advertising, despite his pleas for viewers not to purchase any products from companies who use his name.
• Fake Urgency: The website has a false sense of urgency when it states, “Pure Garcinia Cambogia has sold out in most major stores. As of Thursday January 23, 2014 it’s still Available Online!”
• One Trick Pony: Unlike most reputable supplement vendors, you can only buy this single product from PureGarciniaCambogia.com. They sell no other supplements.

Below we have compiled a variety of reader comments which specifically addressed Pure Garcinia Cambogia Extract in our articles which asked for reader input on garcinia cambogia. Some, such as a commenter on an earlier article, have said that it caused indigestion. “I have been taking Pure Garcinia Cambogia for two weeks & have upper stomach pain, indigestion, heartburn & some stomach cramps. No weight loss! Not sure I will continue to take them!”

We have seen some reader complaints regarding billing. This reader in October 2013 wrote: I am in Aus too, I cancelled my payment till they corrected charge as advertised. So far they have not & they will relieve nothing until they act. I believe with your actions to have dodged the bullet. I had one reply from Pure Garcinia Combogia stating the charge was correct. I then emailed them their promo they still have not replied to that (2 weeks ago)

Another stated that she was unable to change the number of bottles ordered:  I ordered from them on the 6 March and like others on here only received your order was successful. It did not give me a chance to choose how many bottles and automatically sub-totaled the amount. 

One reader expressed frustration from a lack of communication after placing her order. I ordered the med, they charged my card the day I ordered in and I’ve been trying to find out for 10 days when to expect it. No one will answer the phone at their support center and I got a questionable email back stating I would receive an email w/a tracking number when it was shipped, that was over a week ago. I’ve NEVER been charged for something before it’s been shipped and I have not received any emails 10 days later that this product is even on the way! I called my credit card company to hold my payment and they are disputing this. I ordered through puregarciniacamgogia.com don’t do it!

There have been those who claim the product works, such as this commenter, who noted that she had been incorporating it into a diet and exercise regimen: I have been taking PURE GARCINIA CAMBOGIA EXTRACT/ 100% ALL NATURAL/with 60% (HCA)as well calcium-5mg(5%) chromium 200mg(167%) potassium 50mg(1%) I take 2 a day one 30 min before breakfast and another one 30 minutes before dinner..I’ve lost a total. Of 11 pounds in a total of 13 days!! Yes it does work oh and I run for an hour and 10 minutes burning 736 calories a day and eating a total of 1500 calories daily!! So like I said it WORKS!!!!

This reader claimed to have a serious reaction to the supplement I was taking the Pure Garcinia Cambogia extract for one week and on day 8, I had a grand mal seizure! I hadn’t had a seizure in over 15 years. I can only attribute it to taking this suppliment. Now, I have to stop driving for a year and go back on other meds! Dumbest mistake in my life. We received one comment addressing problems with the satisfaction guarantee: This company offers a satisfaction guarantee, but it is not available if you contact them more than 30 days after ORDER. They don’t care when you received your 60 day supply or when you began using it. The time begins when you place the order. BEWARE!

Bottom Line

When you consider that this website appeared three days after the Dr. Oz episode, the fact that it only sells a single product, and the various complaints over the past year from our readers, this is a vendor you should approach with caution at the very least. It is unclear how many of the problems above this vendors has addressed and/or corrected.
