Boston Mayor: Stop Jumping Into Snowbanks

Boston residents have been inundated with a significant amount of snow in the last month. And many residents have started to film themselves jumping from windows into snowbanks. Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, however, is asking residents to quit the practice.

Walsh has reprimanded the thrill and attention seekers that have recorded themselves carrying out the stunts and posted videos on various social media websites, in an online trend referred to as #BostonBlizzardChallenge. He urged those participating to “stop their nonsense right now.”

He said it’s a foolish thing for them to do because it could cause them to kill themselves. Walsh said Boston isn’t the New Hampshire ski resort “Loon Mountain.” He said the stunts are being performed near city workers who are working tirelessly to clear the streets of snow and deal with 10-feet high snowbanks.

“The last thing we want to do is respond to an emergency call where somebody jumped out of the window because they thought it was a funny thing to do,” Walsh said.

The city has worked hard to keep the roads clear after it was hit after record-breaking snowfalls in recent weeks.
