A Lake Los Angeles woman has been charged with murder of her boyfriend after she attacked him with canned food.
NBC Los Angeles reports that Linda Jackson, 59, allegedly attacked her boyfriend, David Ruiz, while he was in her home. Jackson is said to have used cans of peas, carrots, and chicken broth in the attack, according to a Los Angeles DA spokesman.
Ruiz, 59, died from head injuries two days later.
Deputy District Attorney Jon Hatami said the motive for the attack has not been established, and that bail is expected to be set at $1 million. Jackson faces one count of murder and could receive life in state prison if convicted.
The felony complaint describes the cans as “deadly and dangerous” weapons, according to KTLA.
Earlier this year, an Alabama principal suggested students bring canned foods to school to use for protection against intruders.
