A video which circulated online in October 2015 showed a Japanese swordsman slicing a ball traveling at 100 miles per hour in half.
Isao Machii is not new to the spotlight, but his latest feat has taken speed and precision to a new level. In the video posted on YouTube by Oricon News, we see Machii draw his sword after the ball was launched from a pitching machine 30 feet away, and slice it almost exactly in half.
The video begins with two test pitches which are fired presumably to give Machii a sense of the speed and location of the ball during his stunt. The swordsman then readies himself for the ball to be launched.
As the third pitch is launched, Machii almost instantaneously draws his sword and slices the ball in half, eliciting a response from onlookers.
After the feat, Machii confidently walks off as the camera focuses on part of the ball on the ground.
