A Florida jewelry store held it’s third annual Christmas promotion offering a free shotgun with purchases of $450 or more.

In a holiday promotion called “Fire and Ice,” the jewelry store Downtown Goldsmith Jewelry and Engraving in DeLand, Florida offered a free 12-gauge shotgun (“fire”) with the purchase of any jewelry (“ice”) over $450.
“We kind of took the take off the shotgun wedding and twisted it a little bit so more people could get involved,” owner Jessie Czerok said.
It has been a successful promotion, with customers traveling for miles to take advantage and get the free $270 shotgun.
“My wife loves jewelry, and it was an opportunity for us to get jewelry. And I get a gun, first one in 20 years. So, you have the best of both worlds,” one customer told WESH.
In response to critics who have questioned the promotion, the owners noted that those seeking a free shotgun would have to pass a background check. “If they don’t pass, they don’t get a gun. We don’t just let anyone walk out of here with a gun,” Czerok said.
On its Facebook page, the store noted that this year’s promotion had garnered significant attention.

The store has also held the promotion on Valentine’s Day in years past.
