A man has set a Guinness world record for the longest flight on a hoverboard.
Future Tech
Just in time to check off another successful prediction for 2015 by Back to the Future II, Catalin Alexandru Duru demonstrated a hoverboard which flew 905 feet (276 meters) while hovering about 16 feet off the ground, as reported this week by Guinness World Records.
The demonstration took place at Lake Ouareau in Canada.
“I wanted to showcase that a stable flight can be achieved on a hoverboard and a human could stand and control with their feet,” he said. Although the demonstration took place in the water, Catalin said that the hoverboard can be used anywhere and can achieve high altitudes.
It appears that the hoverboard uses drone technology, which has been adapted for a human driver.
In 2014, social media lit up with the excitement of an announced hoverboard, only to find that it was an elaborate hoax. A hoverboard known as the Hendo Hoverboard was also unveiled in 2014, but it was limited by the requirement of a metallic surface.
Bottom Line
A man set the record for the farthest flight on a hoverboard at over 900 feet, breaking the previous record nearly 5 times over.
