An Irishman filmed his entire trip to Las Vegas on a GoPro, but had it pointed the wrong way, resulting in a hilarious clip which turned out considerably different than the man intended.
An Irishman in Vegas
The video was posted on November 13, 2015 and amassed millions of views in only its first few days. The caption reads, “So… Gave my Dad my GoPro while he was in Las Vegas, I did not, however, instruct him on how to use it, so my dad being my dad, and a culchie, didn’t know which way to point the f****** thing…”
It begins with tourist pointing out landmarks from his hotel window, yet we only see the shirtless dad providing the narration. The man is then seen walking down the Las Vegas Strip with the GoPro on a selfie stick – still pointed squarely at him as he points out sights along the iconic street. “Oh look at that,” he marveled at one point.
The man dutifully films as he walks through resorts such as the MGM and Paris, along with the tourist-laden Las Vegas sidewalks. The video ends with the man on the monorail with a credit card in his mouth.
Although the Irishman described himself as “the tourist everybody hates,” reaction to the video has been rather favorable, with most readers chalking it up to being a “dad” moment.
GoPro itself commented on the 4 minute YouTube video, writing, “Classic dad move! What happens in Vegas, doesn’t always stay in Vegas.”
The man’s son who posted the clip noted in the comments that the GoPro used to make this video was eventually destroyed because his dad, “took it swimming without the waterproof case on.” GoPro responded that they’d send him a new camera with a waterproof housing that “should be Dad-proof.”
