Thieves who attempted a “smash and grab” attempt at a Verizon store only managed to get away with fake display phones.
Fake Phones
Burglars who gained entry into a Verizon store in Ohio sought to stock up on the latest cell phones, but only ended up stealing fake display models. The thieves entered the property by using a rock to smash the glass door. They then ripped all of the display phones from the cords which held them in place, and left – apparently not realizing the phony phones were of no value. The real phones were safely locked away in a vault, which the manager says done was in response to previous robberies.
The thieves have not yet been caught, although police are looking at surveillance video to attempt to identify whoever was responsible. Although no real phones were stolen, the crooks did manage to cause significant damage to the insider of the store.
