A Minnesota woman was arrested after biting part of her husband’s ear off during a fight over beer.
Beer Attack
37-year old Jamie Elrod faces first-degree assault charges after officers were called to her home and found that her husband was missing part of his ear.
The officers responded to a domestic assault call and met with the couple when they arrived. During a search of the apartment, officers found overturned furniture, blood, and part of the husband’s ear on the floor.
According to a criminal complaint filed in the case, the husband originally said that his ear was injured in a fight downtown, but later told officers that it occurred during argument with his wife over a beer.
During the argument, Elrod followed her husband into the bedroom and “went off at him.” When asked what happened to her husband’s ear, Elrod said she didn’t know. During jail phone calls made by the woman, however, she admitted to biting off her husband’s ear.
She is currently being held on $30,000 bond. It isn’t clear if the missing portion of the man’s ear will be reattached.
2013 Christmas Beer Attack
The story above is reminiscent of another beer-related story of a South Carolina man who was stabbed by his spouse with a ceramic squirrel when he failed to bring home beer on Christmas day.
Helen Williams sent her common-law spouse to the store to get beer early Christmas morning, but became enraged when the man returned empty handed. She attacked the man with ceramic squirrel, hitting him on the head and stabbing him in the chest.
Police arrived to find the 41-year old man bloodied with a “large deep laceration” from his left shoulder to his chest, along with cuts on his face. Williams told police the man fell, but could not explain why she had blood on her hand and clothing.
The man was taken to the hospital and Williams was arrested and held on bond for $10,000.
