About LifeCell Skin

LifeCell by South Beach Skincare is a line of anti-aging and skin care products. It has been advertised with a free trial of its “All-In-One Anti-Aging Treatment” cream.

The official websites are lifecellskin.com and lifecellcream.com, which were registered back in 2006 and 2007 respectively.

What they claim

As with many anti-aging products, LifeCell cream is said to “restore smoother, firmer, younger-looking skin.” The “All-in-One” product is “designed to replace up to 6 leading skin care products. The website includes customer reviews, all of which are 4 or 5 stars.

LifeCell products are said to be a solution for dry skin, puffy eyes, wrinkles, sagging skin, and skin discoloration. Results are said to be achieved within 17 seconds.

How much does LifeCell cost?

There is also a free trial, which is often advertised online.

“Free Trial” and Auto-Ship

The 30-day “free trial” of the anti-aging treatment costs $4.25 for a 60-day supply. This has been perhaps the biggest area of complaint from dissatisfied customers.

If you keep the product past the 30-day trial, you will be charged $189. You’ll also be enrolled in their “LifeCell VIP Replenishment Service” which automatically ships you a new supply ever 60 days. Many customers have complained that they were unaware of this auto-enrollment when placing an order.

The BBB has weighed in on the LifeCell free trial, noting:

Our file contains a pattern of complaints from consumers alleging unauthorized payments for $189.00 are automatically debited after consumers participate in South Beach Skin Care, Inc’s “free trial” offer. Consumers claim that South Beach Skin Care, Inc. continues to bill their accounts monthly. Consumers also state South Beach Skin Care, Inc. requests that consumers return the “free sample” before cancelling their accounts.

Our LifeCell Review

Our group of testers tried out anti-aging cream. The consensus was that it was on par with average skin care product which are available for a fraction of the price at any beauty or drug store. One of our testers experienced a negative reaction to LifeCell, with a rash appearing shortly after application. Based on this experience and other reviews online, it would appear that this a problem for some people.

One of our testers commented, “I think my skin looked worse after I tried LifeCell.”

There is a rather strong smell to the product, which not all of our testers liked. If you are sensitive to strong smells, you may have a problem with this product.

The anti-aging cream contains DMAE, retinol, and Vitamin C Ester. These are not unique to LifeCell and are quite easy to find online. A cream called “Source Naturals Skin Eternal,” for example, contains two of the three ingredients listed above, and costs under $30.

We should also caution you to beware of fake reviews. As we’ve seen with countless other products, there are several fake reviews for LifeCell online, which often read as a glowing endorsement that end with a big “GET FREE TRIAL” link at the bottom.

Bottom Line

LifeCell is an ordinary skin care product at an extraordinary price. The product is further plagued by two problems: Cost and auto-ship. These issues converge to form a rather unpleasant experience for many customers. To add insult to injury, our test group found that the product performed no better than an inexpensive skin care regimen.

We would also avoid doing business with any company that won’t even bother respond to requests by the Better Business Bureau to straighten out concerns about advertising and billing problems.

You can find DMAE, retinol, and Vitamin C Ester for far cheaper without an unwanted auto-ship program.
