Flipeez are “action hats” for children which can be animated by squeezing a ball contained in the hat’s tassel. Today we offer Flipeez reviews from editors and readers.
Flipeez “Action Hats”
Flipeez come from the makers of Stompeez, which are similarly-designed animated slippers. The official website, flipeez.com, was registered back in March 2012. Each Flipeez cap is animated by squeezing a pump inside the “puff ball” at the end of a dangling tassel.
2013 Designs
When we first evaluated the product, it was available in the following designs:
- Huggy Monkey – Opens its arms
- Playful Puppy – Moves its ears
- Twitchy Kitty – Raises its tail
- Peek-a-Boo Monster – Opens its arms
- Curious Owl – Flaps its wings
- Ranger Raccoon – Raises its ears
- Rascally Rabbit – Raises its tail
2014 Designs
The life of a typical As Seen on TV product is that it’s marketed via television first, then hits the store shelves, and then disappears. Flipeez has bucked this trend by re-appearing in 2014 with all new designs, and availability only at retailers (that is, you can’t purchase from the website). The new designs are:
- Elsa
- Anna
- Olaf
- Doc McStuffins
- SpongeBob
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
2015 Characters
In January 2015, the available characters featured on the website returned to the original 7 designs (mentioned above). It isn’t clear if those designs are still available, but they are nowhere to be seen on the website.
Flipeez Cost
Flipeez cost about $19.99 and can only be purchased from retailers such as Target, Walgreens, and Toys R Us. Many online retailers also offer the product.
Screen Shots
Below are screen shots of the official website, taken in December 2013 and December 2014. As you can see, the 2014 website has removed the “Order Now” button, and still has images of the old styles which are no longer available.
In 2015, the website’s appearance returned to how it looked in the 2013 screen shot above. The “Order Now” button reappeared, although (as of this writing) it does not function properly.
Television Commercial
Below is an updated Flipeez commercial which began airing around September 2014, featuring the new designs.

Our Flipeez Review
Plush, animated, and light-up toys have gained popularity in recent years, especially for As Seen on TV offerings, and particularly around the holidays. We found the fabric to be comfortable and durable, although the stitching seemed sub-par. The hats fit most children comfortably.
Durability Concerns
The biggest drawback to Flipeez is that they can “break” easily. Excited or aggressive children tend to pull on the ball – which is meant to be squeezed, not pulled. This can detach the pump from the hose which connects it to the animated parts. The good news, however, is that this is an easy fix. We found it easy to reconnect the ball and the hose through the material, without having to cut it open or take it apart. Some parents may not realize the fix is that simple, however.
Bottom Line
Flippez’ strength is that most kids will enjoy them, and it’s a good way to get them to wear a hat. The product’s drawbacks include weak stitching and a tendency for the ball to separate from the hosing in the tassel.
Aside from a couple of drawbacks, the consensus here is that Flipeez is a worthy product, and kids (up to a certain age) will enjoy owning them. If you are still interested in the older Flipeez designs, you may want to try Amazon or Ebay.
