About Pajama Jeans

Everyone loves the comfort of pajamas, yoga pants, and sweats. But leaving the house in these may turn a few heads if you’re not heading off to the gym or checking the mail. Enter Pajama Jeans: “Pajamas you live in. Jeans you sleep in.”

Pajama Jeans are part of a new trend in clothing that combines style with comfort. They were launched with classic boot-cut jeans for women, which are said to feel like pajamas with the look of designer denim. The softness is attributed to special stretchy fabric called Dormisoft denim. All the jeans have pockets and brass rivets, but you won’t see a fly opening or any buttons. Just slip these jeans on and they’ll conform to your body for the perfect fit. After gaining popularity, their line expanded to include variety of styles and colors for men, women, and even maternity wear. Pajama Jeans can be purchased in chain retailers, such as Walmart, Target, and Bed, Bath & Beyond, plus some pharmacies like CVS and Walgreen’s. The selection at these locations may be limited. They can also be purchased online in any available style at the official website, pajamajeans.com (seen in the screen shot below).

How much do Pajama Jeans cost?

Women’s jeans are available in black, indigo, or antique wash for $29.99. This includes skinny, boot cut, and capris. If you want rainbow hues, they are $39.99 in skinny or boot cut denim. Maternity jeans come in skinny or boot cut styles in indigo for $49.99. Men’s denim comes in black or indigo in a relaxed fit for $49.99.

Shipping

Shipping varies by weight and starts at $7.99 for standard shipping for one pair. Expedited shipping is also available. The price for standard shipping doesn’t increase much when you purchase multiple pairs though. We saw that 4 pairs was $11.99 shipping, so if you plan to buy several Pajama Jeans, it’s best to purchase them at the same time.

Discounts

The website offers a bundled rate: 4 pairs of jeans for $99.99, for a savings of $19.97. You can also find in-store bargains, such as the classic boot cut in indigo for $19.99 at Walmart. At other retailers, prices range between $19.99 to $39.99, and you usually won’t find other colors, styles, or men’s denim.

Our Pajama Jeans Review

Our tester purchased Pajama Jeans at Walmart, and after taxes they were just under $22.00. Buying in person allowed us to try out a single pair of Pajama Jeans before purchasing more online. The size guide on the package helped us to find the right fit, since you’re not able to try them on beforehand. Buying locally also allows you to return the product if you are not happy with the size. The Pajama Jeans website also offers a “Stress-Free returns” form, found here.

Pros

  • Very comfortable
  • Fabric is thick and feels well-made
  • No buttons or zipper to irritate when you sit down
  • Reasonable cost
  • Ample variety of colors and washes
  • Boot cut for women is usually available in a local store.

Cons

  • Need inseam and length variations for people of different heights
  • Could add other neutrals like khaki, gray, and white to color selection
  • Men’s denim or maternity wear must be purchased online

Alternatives to Pajama Jeans

While Pajama jeans are the only ultra-soft denim jeans for women, there are jegging (jean-legging) styles that have a similar look. Some have pockets and faux zippers too, although some are more like leggings. Some brands include No Nonsense, Faded Glory, Jordache, LEI, and Mossimo with prices ranging from $13 to $35. For men, there are lounge jeans by Joe Boxer that look like a worn out pair of pants with patches for $15. WebUndies.com has a similar look for $18.50.

Bottom Line

Pajama Jeans are a good value and meet their promise of being a comfortable and fashionable denim product. We hope to see more colors and styles available in the future. Recommended.
