Guinness World Records named Corduroy as the current world’s oldest living cat on August 13, 2015. Corduroy’s owner is Ashley Reed Okura of Sister, Oregon, who states that the feline’s longevity may be due in part to his ability to roam freely on their ranch. “Growing up on 160 acres in Oregon, I allowed Corduroy to roam the ranch freely, so he always gets lots of exercise,” Okura was quoted by Guinness.

Corduroy was named oldest living cat in 2014, but lost that title to Tiffany Two, who recently passed away at the age of 27. Upon Tiffany Two’s passing, Corduroy regained the title.

According to Guinness, the oldest cat ever was named Crème Puff from Austin, Texas. That cat lived from 1967 to 2005 – 38 years and three days, which is more than twice the life expectancy of the species.
