Worst Suspect Sketch Ever?

A witness attempting to help police catch the murderer of a Rabbi in Florida drew a sketch of the suspect, which has been described as one of the worst sketches ever.

Police in North Miami Beach, Florida released a witness sketch of the suspect in the August 2014 murder of Rabbi Joseph Raksin. The poorly-drawn sketch, however, has taken on a life of its own.

Local news media featured the sketch in reports on the story. “A witness provided this sketch…” it can be heard by the video shown above. Another local news story referred to it as a “rough sketch…drawn by a witness who lives in the area where Rabbi Joseph Raksin was killed.”

At a press conference, the State Attorney can also be seen holding up the sketch to a room full of reporters.

The case against 15-year old DeAndre Charles has been brewing for about a year, culminating in his arrest at his home on December 9. His family claims he has a solid alibi, but Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez-Rundle – who can be seen holding the sketch at a press conference – said the case is “evidence-rich in terms of circumstantial evidence.”

Charles will be tried as an adult while facing charges of first-degree murder and attempted robbery. He is being held without bond.

Despite the somber nature of the story, the sketch itself has drawn a humorous response from internet readers.

It isn’t clear how compelling the witness sketch will be when the case goes to trial.

This isn’t the first time that poorly-drawn sketches have caught the public’s attention. In 2006, a rudimentary drawing of the so-called Crichton Leprechaun made headlines. More recently, a court sketch artist was forced to apologize for her unflattering “likeness” of Tom Brady.
