Super Beta Prostate is a supplement which is said to help men with prostate problems. Read our Super Beta Prostate review from editors and readers.
About Super Beta Prostate
According to the product website’s terms, Super Beta Prostate is promoted by NAC Vitamins Inc, maker of New Vitality and other vitamin products. The New Vitality website also sells Super Beta Prostate, along with many other aging-related products. New Vitality also produces Ageless Male, which we have discussed in this article.
Several websites have been used to advertise the product over the past several years. The current domain used for advertising is superbeta.com, which was registered back in 2004. The domain betaprostate.com has also been used, and it was registered back in 1998 (although reviews for this domain prior to 2012 are scant). Newvitality.com was registered only a couple of months earlier.
Cost
If you purchase from the official website, Super Beta Prostate will be offered as a “free trial” which costs $6.99, and included an auto-ship program which begins 30 days from the moment you order (not from when you recieve the producct). That includes a monthly cost of $39.95 plus $6.99 shipping, for a total of $46.94.
The auto-ship terms state:
Starting 30 days from your order date, you’ll receive a new 30-day supply every month at the guaranteed low price of just $39.95 plus $6.99 S&H per shipment, which will conveniently be charged to the card you provide today unless you call to cancel.
A more consumer-friendly option is to purchase Super Beta Prostate locally. You can find the product in drug stores for about $30. This will eliminate shipping costs and delays, and the unwanted auto-ship program.
Advertising History
In 2012 and 2013, former NFL quarterback Joe Theismann was the celebrity pitchman for Super Beta Prostate. In a 2012 television ad for the product, he stated:
Hi I’m Joe Theismann and no matter what stadium I’d broadcast from, I’d always have to find the closest bathroom just in case I had that sudden urge to go. My prostate was giving me fits, but then I heard about Super Beta Prostate’s nationwide million bottle giveaway, and I got a free bottle. What a difference it made. I don’t have to go as often and I don’t have to get up at night as much. Now I wake up refreshed and ready to tackle anything. Super Beta Prostate has sold over 5 million bottles. You have to take 100 saw palmetto capsules to get the same about of Beta-Sitosterol as you would from just one Super Beta Prostate tablet.
(Cut to Jeff Zielinski, M.D.) If you want a stronger urine flow and a more complete emptying of your bladder, I recommend Super Beta Prostate.
(Back to Joe) Don’t accept the issues that come with an aging prostate. Get Super Beta Prostate today. It works for me during the day and at night.
(Announcer) Call now and we’ll send ever new customer a bottle of Super Beta Prostate. Just pay shipping and handling. Call 1-800-658-7471.
There was a small disclaimer during the ad which reads:
Beta-Sitasterol is not the active ingredient in saw palmetto. Consult your physician before beginning any weight loss, exercise, or dietary supplement program, particularly if you have special needs.
By late 2014, Theismann no longer appeared in television commercials or on the product website. In his place is an unnamed male model.
When we first wrote our review of the product, the betaprostate.com website also featured Hulk Hogan, but his likeness is no longer seen on the site.
Roger Mason
Roger Mason was an expert used in promotion of Super Beta Prostate and other New Vitality products several years ago. We could find no information on Roger Mason on either website until a Google search yielded an inactive page on the betaprostate.com site (see screenshot below). That page is entitled Roger Mason, The Man Behind the Magic.
Below is a screen shot of Roger Mason’s now-removed presence on Super Beta Prostate’s website:
The text of this page read:
“My scientific formula naturally supports healthy prostate and urinary function*. I’m so sure you’ll love Super Beta Prostate that I am going to offer it risk-free.”
Roger Mason, a renowned research chemist, has written ten(10) books on natural health. Roger has been an integral part of the natural health industry for more than 30 years. He has done extensive research into natural health, life extension and healing yourself naturally with whole foods, proven supplements, natural hormones, and exercise. In addition, he counsels men on non-medical options available to support prostate health.
His research has culminated in several acclaimed formulas; most distinguished is Super Beta Prostate. Roger Mason and New Vitality are so confident that you’ll be satisfied with Super Beta Prostate, that they’re offering it to you for 30-days risk-free.

After some harsh accusations, including those of a criminal past, Roger Mason seems to have disappeared completely from both sites.
In 2012, the “expert” for Super Beta Prostate was listed as Dr. Zielinski from the TV commercial, but he too has disappeared from the website. New Vitality has their “About Us” signed by Jonathan Flicker, CEO.
In late 2014, the website features what appears to be a model using the name “Tony.” The only sign of an expert endorsement comes in the television commercial in which a pathologist named Cloyce Martin states that he uses the product.
Television Commercial
The TV ad below has been running for Super Beta Prostate as of December 2014.
Super Beta Prostate Reviews
Below is a history of reviews for Super Beta on Amazon.com, which maintained about a 3 star rating over 3 years before that vendor removed it.
In September 2012, we reported that the 29 ratings for Super Beta on Amazon included 6 five-star, 7 four-star, 3 three star, 3 two star, and 10 one star reviews. Those reviews range from being a big help to a big disappointment.
In February 2014, the number of reviews had risen to 130, breaking down as 28 five-star, 22 four-star, 15 three-star, 13 two-star, and 49 one-star.
In December 2014, the 185 reviews broke down as 50 five-star, 29 four-star, 17 three-star, 18 two-star, and 71 one-star.
By April 2015, the 243 reviews were broken down as 76 five-star, 37 four-star, 21 three-star, 28 two-star, and 81 one-star.
In July 2015, the vendor removed the product, although it could still be found by other sellers on Amazon.
Problems
- The comparison in their TV ad of Beta-Sitasterol to saw palmetto is essentially negated by the disclaimer, which is a bit odd.
- There are over 80 complaints about New Vitality at Ripoffreport.com.
- Auto-ship. When you order from the official website, you’ll also be enrolled in an auto-ship program. As their disclaimer states, “for added convenience, we’ll also include membership to our exclusive auto-replenishment program – so you never have to miss a day of Super Beta Prostate.” This can be avoided by purchasing the product locally.
- The Beta Prostate and New Vitality websites originally promoted the products as having been created by chemist Roger Mason. They appear to have distanced themselves from Mason due to harsh personal attacks on his reputation.
Ingredients
In 2012, the website listed the following ingredients:

- Vanadium
- Germanium
In 2014, the ingredients listed online are:
- Beta-sitosterol

- Boron
Side Effects of Super Beta Prostate
There have been reports of constipation and other side effects. The Wikipedia entry on beta-sitasterol also claims a few additional side effects, such as “increased severity of heart disease in men having previously suffered from heart attacks.”
Why Super Beta Prostate might work
Beta-Sitasterol is not exclusive to Super Beta Prostate, as it can be purchased by a variety of vendors online, in many cases less expensive than Super Beta Prostate. There is some data that this substance does work in battling prostate problems. WebMD lists it as “Likely Effective” in “Trouble urinating because of an enlarged prostate, or “benign prostatic hyperplasia” (BPH). Taking beta-sitosterol helps the symptoms of BPH, but it does not actually shrink an enlarged prostate.”
The NYU Langone Medical Center has a page on beta-sitosterol, and concludes, “A review of the literature, published in 1999, found a total of four double-blind placebo-controlled studies on beta-sitosterol for BPH, enrolling a total of 519 men. All but one of these studies found significant benefits in both perceived symptoms and objective measurements, such as urine flow rate.” It describes beta-sitosterol as a “moderately well-documented treatment for BPH.”
Bottom Line
The marketing for Super Beta Prostate has evolved over the years, but the primary ingredient has remained. If you want to try it, you will be best served by purchasing it from a local vendor to avoid shipping costs and delays, and to avoid an unwanted auto-ship program.
The primary ingredient, beta-sitosterol, has a pretty good track record in alleviating symptoms of BPH, and this ingredient can be found in several supplements. It may pay to shop around.
